I seem to be getting more and more emails ‘Thankyou for your order’ ‘Thankyou for your enquiry’ etc.
Is this becoming accepted as one word or have I just been contacted by slack-minded people?

slack mindedness i guess i see it everywhere the incorect version is used , and adopted ,
things like Jail = prison (when jail is remand before trial)

I agree with other posters that this is just laziness, but I’ll take a crack at the cause. If it’s really an email generated as a response to something you submitted on a website (e.g. order receipt, questionnaire form), then the email was generated by some server-side code, not a human. The code was written by a programmer and may have never been reviewed. I don’t mean to imply that all programmers are illiterate morons. No, wait, yes I do… because I are one.
On a lot of websites, marketing and legal departments do a thorough review of all content, but in many cases they ask for printouts (!) and never actually visit the site. That means anything generated dynamically is never seen, except in the general case. Emails generated by code are often not reviewed until ridiculed by customers.
yes FEEL the canned responses from ebay etc! when something goes wrong its nice to be ignored
