Well, clearly the Conservative movement is the only blameless political party, and the Left is entirely at fault for all the evil in the world. As a result, Obama is to be stripped of his Presidency, and we’ll all need to go out and get guns and stop getting abortions.
Apparently, ACORN was the lynchpin which was holding the entire Left together. There’s nothing left now but to hand the White House over to Sarah Palin.

I’m with **elucidator **on this one. I do not begrudge the right their crowing on this one. In fact, I think Fox ‘News’ should host a Lets All Suck Off Glen Beck For Overthrowing ACORN Night.
So ACORN has some legitimacy and corruption troubles amongst their employees. And Glen and the right went after them like hungry dogs and, as a pack, they took down this Left-Wing Organization like a crippled gazelle and they are now feasting on its entrails.
Congratulations.
I say all this because before last years Presidential campaign, if you had said to me, “I predict that within a year and a half, the right wing will destroy ACORN,” my response would have been: “What the fuck is ACORN?”

Considering that all Glenn Beck & Co. succeeded in doing was to pressure the Census Bureau into dropping ACORN from its list of nearly 80,000 ‘partners’ involved in publicizing the next Census, that’s defining down ‘taking down a Left-Wing Organization like a crippled gazelle and feasting on its entrails’ to a considerable degree.
That reinforces your larger point, of course, but I wanted to point that out. If that’s the sort of victory the wingnuts (and other random fasteners) want to jump up and down about, then it just accentuates their impotence.

Its a little more than that, maybe. Recall that a lot of the US Attorney scandal was about being pressured to pursue bogus “voter fraud” cases to embarass Dem candidates, that’s how ACORN got roped into this in the first place, IIRC.
The cases were dead bogus, of course, but it got the rightards a swollen hard-on for ACORN, in an effort to bolster some legitimacy for those “cases”.
What it breaks down to is the more people vote, the worse it is for the right. Pretty much all they’re gonna get, registration wise, they’ve already got, and the process leans towards the settled property owner, who leans Pubbie. The right has nothing to gain from voter registration drives, and everything to lose. The point is not lost on them.

This is one of the favorite tropes around here, and one that Shodan has perfected to a particular degree: pretending that a bunch of individuals on a message board are somehow designated representatives of a monolithic party voice. This is dishonest, Shodan, and you know it.
The various “contradictions” you quote are a collection of theories randomly thrown out in a rambling discussion attempting to understand–rather than simply accept without understanding, which seems to be the strategy you support–what actually happened in a story that’s missing a lot of details. To collect all of those “what if” fragments of an ongoing discussion as if they proved that the official position of the “left” is intrinsically self-contradictory only serves to prove, along with this OP, how little substance your own position actually has, if this is truly all you’ve got.
