Thank you Santa Roku question

I got a Roku for Christmas (YAY!) and got it hooked up to my TV and cable box. The issue now is that I have run out of handy little input (or are they output?) places to include my DVD player in the mix. Roku is connected to the TV and TV is connected to the cable box, but there is no room at the inn for the DVD player.

Am I missing an option here or am I just being greedy?

Assuming they’re all using HDMI, some options:

  1. If you have some inputs of other types available on the TV (e.g. component), move one of the devices to another input type (preferably component so you don’t lose significant quality).
  2. Get an HDMI switcher to allow you to have more than one device hooked up to the same HDMI jack on the TV.
  3. Get an A/V receiver that will switch sources for you and only need one HDMI port on the TV. This is a significant investment, and you’d need to buy speakers too, but it would give you much better audio quality too. If that’s something you’ve been considering, now might be a good time to take the leap.

What you need is a splitter box. Assuming the output from DVD and Roku is RCA, you need something like this. If it really is HDMI, somethinglike this.

Yes, the splitter box will work. Thank You!
