Thank you very fucking much, Mike fucking Price.

Actually, I’m glad you showed your true colors before you even signed the $10 million contract with Alabama.

What I’m worried about (yet again) is what this is going to do to my beloved Crimson Tide, already reeling from a series of hard blows.

Thanks for fucking us over less than a year after Dennis (may his name be ever cursed) Franchione gave us the old “no Vaseline” treatment.

Asshole.

I hear that Gene Stallings, God bless him, is calling the UA Athletic Department on a daily basis, saying, “I’ll coach.”

Wouldn’t be good for him, but you gotta love him for it.

It’s not his fault, really. He shoulda never been fired, at least from what’s come out so far.

I hear he is appealing, but not that he didn’t deserve it. Do you have a cite, by any chance? Everything I’ve heard makes it sound either like weaseling, or that he becomes Gomer effin’ Pyle when he gets drunk. Nobody has that much sheer blind bad luck.

He’d already been warned by Mal Moore to stop doing stupid shit, then he goes and pulls this stunt.

Good riddance. If you’re going to fuck around with a university’s reputation, especially a university struggling under NCAA sanctions, a president who’s a moron (sorry, no love for Robert Witt although he did the right thing with Price), and increasing pressure due to that STUPID party school reputation, be prepared to pay a high price.

And I’m not even a football fan. I’ve never attended a UA football game and I don’t plan to, even with two years left here at the Capstone.

The SI article that started the whole mess

and Price’s response

Looking back, I’m an idiot for saying it’s not his fault. It obviously is. I’m not saying the guy isn’t a dirtball, and the didn’t deserve it comment was just my opinion about the severity of his alleged offenses.

Really, though, there’s a whole range of “eyewitness accounts” that range from “Wild Threeway Action” to some lap dances and some drinking. My guess is that it’s somewhere between the two. It’s my opinion that a football coach who gets drunk at a strip club and MAY have had some kind of relations with somebody shouldn’t be fired before the facts even come out. I mean, an affair with a stripper is a fireable offense? And it might not even have happened.

There is also an issue about Price buying alcohol for minors, but that doesn’t really appear to be a major reason for the firing, judging by the lack of attention it’s been given. At least that’s a violation of the law, though.

Now you got Mike Shula. No head coaching experience. At least he’s not into strippers, though, right?

Damn skippy. He also played at UA and knows what the pressure of being better known than the governor is going to be like. I don’t mind seeing Shula at all.

As far as Price goes, I think UA is going in big for the “avoid ye the appearance of evil” philosophy, especially since 1) the SEC in general and UA in particular have had their names dragged through the mud (sometimes justifiably, sometimes not) and 2) a recent HC that couldn’t keep his dick in his pants got the program into enough trouble that I’ve actually heard “death penalty” bandied about.

Enough to make me shudder, it is.

Hey, the new head coach had better fucking know before coming into this gig that he will be watched twice as as closely, and that he’d best mind his P’s and Q’s.

Price hadn’t even coached a single game, and he’d already gotten into shit with the athletic director. Bad omen.

Mike Price is considering a lawsuit against Sports Illustrated and U. of Al. because: “All I have left is my good name and reputation.”

Yeah right. You go, Dude!

Hey Ogre: Dammed if y’all ain’t been providin’ entertainment for us Auburn folk lately. Almost enough to make me feel sorry for ya’.
Well not really, but I tried…

Thanks, John. We all have to pull together in this…oh, wait. You’re from that damned cow college.

Pssstt…don’t worry, I actually went to Auburn for part of my collegiate career too. It’s tough as hell for me on Iron Bowl day.

Also, regarding this:

It’s a damn lie. Buffalo’s is right in the middle of the freaking Strip, and it caters to hot, drunk young co-eds, just like every other bar down there does.

I’m sorry to interrupt here, but can I get an address?

Uhmm…It’s for a friend of mine. Yeah.

The only time I’ve been rockin’ out in T-Town we wound up at “Blues and Brews” singin’ karioke. Saw a pretty good fight. A girl and her sister trashed the sister’s drunk boyfriend. Met a pretty nice chick in there from Fayette.

All in all, it turned out very well, considering it was enemy territory and all that.

Hey! I met a pretty nice chick from Fayette in Tuscaloosa too! Her name was Nocturne.

And carrot, just go to University Avenue, follow it through campus, then follow the trail of hip flasks, miniskirts, and UA Greek troglodyes. Can’t miss it.

Mike Shula may know the environment, but that won’t help if he can’t coach. Judging by the performance of his brother Dave with the Bengals, that ability does not run in the family. Good luck to a guy who’s never held a top job anywhere.

From all the reports I’ve heard, Mike is a solid workman, and a real student of the game. I’m willing to bet that he’ll be fine. He’s got a hell of a tough job ahead of him, but he’ll do fine.

I hope. God, I hope.

Even before the current scandal, I was looking forward to the next few Iron Bowl games. I didn’t think that Alabama got a first rate coach in Mike Price. Were I a Bama fan, I’d be a whole lot happier with Mike Shula at the helm, without regard to the current mess.
So as an Auburn fan, I do wish Price had kept it in his pants and remained the coach there.
I think you’re way ahead with “Skippy”, Ogre.

And hey, the Nice Young Lady**[sup]TM**[/sup] from Fayette that I met in T-Town at Blues and Brews wasn’t Nocturne. (MY loss) She was certainly nocturnal, but definitely not Nocturne. She would be more in the age range of Nocturne’s mom, which is a Good Thing, since I’m a geezer.

Every great head coach has been in that position.
