Thanks for making me feel like an old fart, Greg Evans

The eighties were that long ago, uh? I know, this is 2004, and the girls in that strip were likely born on or around 1985.

But still…ancient? The 1980s? No way.

(This was originally intended for the Pit, but then I decided that I didn’t feel THAT strongly about it.)

Yes, once again “age-ism” rears its nasty little head.
So, if the “eighties” are ancient, what does that make baby-boomers like yours truly?
The media, pop culture and so on have always catered to the younger generation.
Yes, old folks are out of step, un-hip, etc … but we’ve got the money !!!

I think the joke in the comic is that the eighties aren’t really ancient, that’s why it’s funny when these girls claim that it is. They’re so wet behind the ears, that the eighties are “ancient.” Silly girls.

That’s the way I took it, anyway. I could be wrong.

I graduated high school with a Greg Evans. I wonder if it’s the same one, but this doesn’t really seem his style. Weeeeeiiiiiiiird.

Yep, same here. It’s obvious they’re making fun of the girl thinking that the 80s are ancient.

If you’re reading Luann you deserve to be made fun of.

I find it disturbing when a post on boards such as these includes a sentence like “I vaguely remember that, it was aaaaaages ago, from way back when I was 8 years old!”

And they’re talking about 1993.

HEY!

Luann is full of insight. So is 9 Chickweed Lane.

Of course, the fact that I have a teenage daughter hasn’t changed my perspective in the slightest. Nope, not at all.
