Thanks for Nothin'! November Mini-Rants

Here’s something that might cheer you up:

The East Room of the White House is decorated with numbers this year - they’re meant to represent the numbers on an Advent calendar. I saw a little news burp about it on TV last night and the first thought in my head was that WeeWeasel would probably adore that (clicking on the first one will make it bigger).

Now for my complaint - we decided to go ahead and replace our over-the-range microwave that died. Our original date of installation was the 28th, which was then changed to tomorrow, the 30th. Only I got a call this morning telling me that it has now been changed again, to December 5th. I feel like taking bets on whether it will be here by Christmas or not.

Is there really someplace I can here him read that? I thought you were joking at first. It sounds awesome.

Well hubster is still in the hospital. He got cleaned up today and the nose tube is out. The insurance has denied accute rehabilitation at Mary Free Bed. They have one more appeal and they say they have better luck with BCBS on this last appeal. I really hope it works out; he really needs it. I really hate how the US health system is run by insurance companies.

Here you go (NSFW?):

Jennifer Garner’s version isn’t nearly as good.

Also, catch the clip from Ellen where Mr. Jackson reads a bedtime story about a baby porcupine.

Ooo, thanks. I’m at the hospital with hubster, but as soon as I get home I’m gonn’ listen to that.

Ha. My Wife and I live remote. Heat with propane. We have a 500 gallon tank. Delivery driver suggested that I get an additional tank, as he can’t always get to our house because of ice/snow. GREAT idea says I. He has been delivering here for 26 years.

I call the company the delivery guy works for. Asking for another tank. They are dubious. They ask “How many propane appliances to you have?” We have two. What in the HELL that has to do with anything? I do not know. We pay for it no matter if we get 300 or 600 gallons. I have propane in-floor heat, and a propane cast iron heat stove. IT IS OUR HEAT. We see days of -20 f here. It’s sort of important. We use it.

The company is Ferrell gas. It’s national. The person I talked to certainly wasn’t local. Was in a different state for sure.

Since we only have two propane appliances, they don’t want to let us BUY or LEASE another tank.

They said they would look into it and call me back. Of course I never heard anything, and now it’s too deep into winter to do it anyway.

I was totally gobsmacked. THEIR driver recommended it. I will be saving THEM money and be paying more. But they have some sort of policy written by some idiot that does not know what it’s like to live in snow country that they must follow.

“But… but… you don’t understand… YOUR delivery driver that works for YOU recommended it. I agree. It’s a great idea. We nearly went cold last winter because your driver could NOT GET HERE (It’s a plowed county road)”

Up against a clueless drone, I gave up before I started sputtering.

I’ll try again next year.

This is amazing!

Wee Weasel loved it.

“We’re gonna go there Friday?”

“Er, no, son, that’s the White House. It’s complicated.”

I hope so too - I think you said somewhere upthread that your husband has a Medicare Advantage plan? I don’t know if you can change that at some point, but man, this sure is a shining example of why people shouldn’t pick such a plan over the Medigap choices if they can afford to do so. My husband also chose MA over Medigap, but I am thinking hard about not doing the same thing when my time comes.

And yes, regardless, things really really suck here regarding medical care and I am continually astounded at how much inertia there is politically to change that - I guess if they’ve got theirs, they don’t care about the rest of us.

He did have medigap F for quite some time. We missed a payment or two? They booted him off, and underwriting was a no go for him. I didn’t even try because with his medical history even if anyone would take him it would have been at a price we couldn’t afford. Probably more than the deductible he has on his BCBS advantage. I have to do advantage because not one plan available to me under part D covers my flovent generic inhaler.

This alone is such an argument for UHC … I’m sorry you are having to deal with all this mess. I hope your husband can get into the rehab he needs. Not a minirant in any way …

There are sooo many arguments for UHC. However, they fall on deaf ears as far as those who could make it happen.

And thank you. I’ve got my fingers crossed.

I hope that gave @Sylvanz some much needed laffs.
I nearly peed myself the 1st time I heard it.

… also, the question mark after NSFW? Like, really? I mean, if the audio is muted, I guess.

I can think of some workplaces where you don’t want SL Jackson yelling “fuck” all over the place. You know someone would be on here hollering why no NSFW. Better safe than sorry.

Aww … I wish I knew someone there who could pull some strings for him. You can see a little bit more of what that room looks like if you fast forward in this vid to 8:55.

So funny, I tell my kids’ “Have you considered chloroform?” I’m so glad it’s not my issue anymore. LOL

Oh, unrelated mini rant. I wanted to watch the 90th. annual Rockafeller Christmas thing. It was supposed to be on NBC on Hulu. What is on Hulu you ask? Shark f’in Tank. I hate that stuff. Not just one episode of that crap, but a freaking marathon of it. What the hell Hulu???!!!

It is the last day of November and at 100, Henry Kissinger is still dead.

Over heard elsewhere on the internet:

“Henry Kissinger died much, much, much too old…”

I thought a trump-mobile would be something like this :-

but with little models of the orange fool hanging on it.

I’m self employed. Everything is safe for work.

I put this in another thread, but it fits here too:

The deaf ears respond : “I’ve got mine, WTF is your problem?”
