Thanks, For the "Advice" Dr. Matrix

That is really awful. Your former employer is subhuman.

Good luck with your interview tomorrow. I hope it works out for you.

Considering he knowingly shipped scrap parts to the military, I’d say that was putting it mildly.

Tuckerfan, I’m sending good “get-the-job” vibes your way. Knock 'em dead!

There are ways to notify the military that it is being defrauded by a vendor. If I were you, I would consider them.

Tuckerfan, ask your physician if they might have some samples of your medicine to help tide you over until you can afford to buy more. Some doctors will help in a crisis like this, rather than have the patient go off the medicine which they consider more detrimental. There might also be programs in your area to help people get medicines just for people going through times like you. Your medicine might be included in help programs that. You might at least look into it, so you can pass the word on if you know anyone in the future who’s having a hard time. Sometimes there is help like that, other times the person is just stuck. :frowning: I hope things get much better for you soon.

I did that a couple of months ago. I noticed that before I got axed management was particularly panicky, and one of them (who is currently serving in the reserves) bailed almost without warning.

If it were me, I’d load up on B vitamin foods, turkey, and maybe some chocolate. Make that a lot of chocolate. SSRI withdrawal is nasty. It seems like aspirin & caffeine will help, but for me it doesn’t.

Here’s an article which described for me what you have likely been experiencing. Looks like there are further interesting articles at the end of the page.

I am not a doctor of any sort.

Maybe you don’t need the meds in the first place. The entire purpose of the American health care system is to get people to take medication that they don’t need. You seem to be dependent on a drug and suffering withdrawals, rather than suffering the lack of the drug itself. Hell, i’d be automatically depressed if i knew i had to spend $115 every time i wanted to refill an anti-depressant prescription.

Thank you for doing your part in defending our freedoms.

You have got to be kidding.

You’re not a doctor, but you play an ignorant idiot on the SDMB.

Thanks, that’s exactly what I was looking for! Judging from that, it looks the worst might be over for me.

Squink, what choice did I have? I’ve got friends in the military, several members of my family have served in the military, and I take a great deal of pride in my work. To turn a blind eye to what was going on would have been to turn my back on my friends, family, and myself. To know that my best efforts were being thwarted by someone idiot who thought that he could save a few cents by putting the lives of American military personnel at risk is not something that I could bear.

Exactly. I meant that sincerely, still it’s probably good for an evil chuckle or two given your firing.

Tuckerfan, I feel your pain. I had a horrendous withdrawal experience from an antidepressant. My doctor was completely uninformed about the possibility of a negative reaction to the step-down and was aware I was reducing my dosage. The particular medication I was taking was needed twice a day (short release). I should have known if was having a bizarre effect on me when I become ill after mere hours of missing a dose. Everything went to hell after that for four months. At least now, it seems much more widely known that that particular medication can cause intractable withdrawal.

I gather from another thread that you were not taking that medication. Your symptoms should be tapering off, and I hope you’re feeling better soon. I too have had to try to ration medication in the past due to financial constraints. The only suggestion I have is probably impractical on a Sunday, but doctors often have samples of antidepressants that they are willing to give to patients at no cost to help them through tough spots. It truly can’t hurt to ask.

Fuck you. You have no clue, absolutely none at all, what it is like being depressed and/or mentally ill.

Uh, a 4 hour, one way commute is a bit much for me, and I can’t really afford to relocate.

I do hope so.

I hope you kick ass on your interview tomorrow, Tuckerfan. I’m sending good thoughts your way.

Ok, just thought I would let you know since you said there weren’t many jobs there now.
