I remember being maybe seven years old, complaining about my bugbites. My dad took out this thing–it looked kind of like a thick clearish crayon. He rubbed it on the bite, and after a little bit i just didn’t feel it anymore. The stuff was amazing. I’m fairly sure I didn’t make this up, yet my parents have disavowed any knowledge ever since. I asked a nurse cousin of mine, and she knew what I was talking about–she told me the scientific name for it, but didn’t know the trade name. I forgot, of course, :smack: and right now I REALLY want some. Does anyone know what I’m talking about? Help is appreciated.
I believe you’re thinking of AfterBite. It’s a plastic pen over the clear stuff. If you cannot find it on the shelf, ask in the pharmacy, I’ve seen it often with their OTC stock behind the counter.
How does it work?
The active ingredient is apparently ammonia.
A web search turned up a few people who claim that just a small dab of ammonia also works. DISCLAIMER: I’ve never tried it, I’m not a doctor, info on the web may not be accurate, use at your own risk.
