That DRESS, Mrs Obama...

Yet another vote for “Fugly.” It just *screams *Black Widow spider to me. Just thinking of Michelle Obama as a Black Widow is… disturbing.

Such beautiful pictures. Such happy, beautiful children and parents. Talk amongst yourselves.

And soon there will also be a puppy!

However she dresses, having a smoking hot First Lady is going to take some getting used to.

It’s like having the Huxatbles in the White House. Just hope they don’t lip-synce Ray Charles.

Most folks seemed happy enough drooling over the Bush daughters, at least at first. Wonder what happened to that meme.

Personally, I’m glad we’re going to see a First Lady with a little creativity in her fashion choices, even if the victory-night dress was a little, um, controversial. Laura Bush’s eternal suit jackets were getting really boring.

That’s it! I had this nagging itch of familiarity when I see that family, and you just laid it out so simply. It’s the Cosbys in the White House.

At first I thought the dress was red and dark blue. In that case it could have been a subtle statement about uniting both ends of the political spectrum

Yeah, the satin belt is a little odd. But I think it’s a nice dress, & good colors for her.

I liked the dress. It highlighted her breasts and loins, which increases her evolutionary advantages when it comes to males on the hunt.

Yeah, the “oh, shit… this is really happening…” look.

Yeah, when I heard that Michelle had said, “This is it. We aren’t doing this again,” I thought she probably thought he was going to fail and maybe wasn’t too upset at the notion.

They are a lovely, attractive couple. And as said somewhere else, it’s nice to see a couple that actually seems genuinely in love with each other.

Thanks for all the pictures, and educating me!

And you can have an opinion on their clothes.

(Anything that makes a significant number of people think ‘pregnant?’ is not a good fashion choice unless one is actually expecting. The waist on this might have been slimming without the cardigan (the cardigan reduced the effect) but the shape created by the waist over the red gave her a non-existant baby bump.)

I’ve always thought Laura Bush was a very pretty woman - she’s aged significantly over eight years (as people will), but she is still a pretty woman.

Man, with a first family this glam I smell a thousand blogpreneurs scrambling to set up ObamaFashionBlog (make money off advertising) pontificating on how you can get Michelle’s latest dress (or knockoff look) or tog your kids up like Malia & Sasha! Bonus ties info for the man that wants to look like Barack? Wait…maybe I should do that…

She had decent taste in clothes too. Not spectacular, but she knew how to pick a good Christmas gown and such.
With Michelle Obama, we may be moving into a new Jackie Kennedy type fashion era.
That’ll be fun for everyone!

Another vote for “unflattering dress, beautiful woman”. I liked what the girls were wearing though.

I’m a little squicked out by all of the attention being paid to the little girls, especially the in-depth critiquing of their hair, dresses and beauty. Modeling careers? They’re pre-pubescent girls, for fuck’s sake.

Thanks for that post. Those pictures are great. I love the baby in those pony tail puffs so much, that I had to post my own baby’s afro puff.

One itty bitty disagreement though. I would guess they needed more than a curling iron to tame those beautiful clouds on their lil’ heads. They needed a ‘press and curl’. I am guessing we don’t use straightening combs anymore, although we did when I was a kid. I think now people use a flattening iron…which I guess is nearly the same as a curling iron after all, so never mind.

Not to go on and on about it all, but I do have a soft spot for kinky hair.
