That Henry VIII Show on PBS Last Night

I am a Henry VIII nerd, um - enthusiast the way some folks are about Star Trek around here and my head nearly exploded last night. No Sir Thomas More? Elizabeth being brought to say goodbye to her mother? Anne walking past normal prisoners in cells on the way to her execution? A crowd of commoners yelling at her at the execution? Wrong, wrong, wrong! I am very disappointed.

Anyone else catch it?

I only caught three scenes…splashing about in the moat, feeling the baby kick, and “sorry, the baby died” so I will be no help. I thought I was taping it, but had the channel set wrong.

Which version was it? (There are a couple floating around…)

I saw it and was a bit disappointed. It seemed like an abbreviated version of Anne of the Thousand Days (without the tower scene) rather than a more true historical version.

What was with the swimming in the moat scene? Was it supposed to be a dream or something? The special effects were so bad, I thought at first it was intential.

I’ll probably watch again next week because I’m a sucker for anything with period costumes. And I did like the jousting scene. Those hits actually looked like they hurt!

Oh, I hear ya about the moat scene. I commented to my husband who snarkled and said, “Wha, what’s wrong?”

As for the version, this is a brand new one. Part II is next week.

I am also kind of annoyed that Jane Seymour is a hottie.
