Incredible! I have to admit I was in favor of the Niners but having to win the game because of a numbskull play?
Spike it! Spike it! You have another down to kick it!
Arrrrrrrgh!!!

:smack: 3rd, 3rd, 3rd, you knucklehead typist!!!
Yeah, how stupid was that?
You forget to mention those idiotic personal fouls that ended up offeseting San Fran’s fouls. I was rooting for the Giants too but they deserved to lose for stupidity.
Haj
Not to mention all that bullshit with T. Owens. He makes two flagrant PF’s and the Giants get zero yards out of it and an ejection. They deserved to botch that FG.
What a mess.
Sheesh. I thought I was watching the Lions play or something.
Absolutely well said. How many screw-ups can you make in one-minute’s time?!?
Like Joe Buck said, “They’re supposed to be professionals!!!”
Ah, man, this thread wasn’t here a minute ago. And now I posted my rant in another NFL thread. But let me just say,
AUUUUGGGGGHHHHH.
Special teams guy for 30 YDs? Or field goal kicker for 41? I know what I’d pick! Geez. Man o man. And other much harsher words (but if I get started, I won’t stop).
I’m rooting for the Steelers for the rest of the playoffs. At least they don’t fucking CHOKE in the fourth!
Asshat Giants. I will never give you up, but you’re a bunch of teases.
Kick the damn ball??
Hell, they couldn’t even center the damn thing.
It’s too bad the rules don’t allow both teams to lose. They both deserved it. In the last few seconds, the 49ers (Owens) made 2 totally stupid plays that would have likely given the Giants the game, but the Giants made 3! And, what kind of team can’t even snap the ball to the holder?
My prediction: 49ers get crushed next week.
As 49er fans, Little Honey and I were sitting, watching the G-men set up for a fairly easy, game-winning field goal with tears streaming down. The explosion of noise that we made and pure joy that we felt, will be remembered by us for a long time.
The Niners were truly deserving of this win after keeping their composure and staging an amazing comeback in the second half.
I also have never forgiven Leonard Marshall of the Giants, for the very unsportsmanlike, helmet to the back hit, he put on Joe Montana several years ago, which all but ended his career.
I consider this win a birthday present. Thanks guys, battle on.
I’m with Honey. 49er’s all the way.Although Owens does need to grow up and get some class.
I think it’s safe to say that the Giants’ long snapper is fired. Maybe the holder for not spiking the ball, and maybe Bryant for being a crappy kicker.
I can’t wait to see tomorrow’s New York Post! hehe…
All I can say is, things just keep getting better and better for the Eagles.
Owens instigated BOTH of the late fouls, and some OTHER guy got ejected?
My wife informs me that I was screaming “WHAT ABOUT 81? WHAT ABOUT 81?”
I am in denial about that whole AMATEUR shitstorm that I just witnessed.
…but I’m a Falcons fan, see you in the big one!
I’d rather face the Niners than the Giants. Oh, how 'bout that Steelers win!?!
I think he was retiring anyway. IIRC the post-game show guys mentioned something about that.
You know, I blame coaching when things like this happen. The coaches are responsible for beating things like that into the players heads, even things that SHOULD be painfully obvious. I bet none of them reminded the kicker/holder that it was 3RD down, spike it if the snap is bad–those should have been the last words out of their mouths before the players trotted onto the field.
It’s just like reminding each other on a baseball team what out it is. Sure, we can all count to 3, but after each out we all make sure we all know how many are left.
Blame the player all you want, but it boils down to poor coaching and poor communication.
I am SOOOO glad I decided to not watch the 4th quarter, for sanity’s sake. Samurai Jack was much better, I think.
Nit Picks
The Giants could not have spiked the ball. Only the QB may spike the ball, otherwise it is intentional grounding and the 10 second run off rule kicks in and the game is over. Allen COULD have thrown an incomplete pass to stop the clock though.
Long Snapper, Trey Junkin (41 yrs old) was already retired until last Tuesday when he came back at the request of Reeves. He is expected to go back to retirement.
End Nit Picks
Yeah the Special Teams have a lot of explaining to do but not as much as the Defense for letting it come down to that.
Lets Go Jets!!!
NYR407 got it straight. No way the game should have come down to that kick. What a pathetic defensive breakdown.
Trey Junkin re-retired after the game, and will probably stay there this time. 19 years big league experience, and he choked. In his defense, he hadn’t played since getting cut in preseason.
And to nitpick the nitpick: Jim Fassel coaxed Junkin out of retirement. Reeves doesn’t work here anymore
Thanks D. Wow I can’t believe I typed Reeves!:smack: At least being a Jets fan gives me an excuse. I am still hung over from Saturday.
Or maybe Reeves forced Junkin out of retirement to fix the game against the Giants and Fassel. This is a conspiracy yet to be made public. Woops, I said too much. Forget I ever metioned Reeves.
Elvis lives, we never had a man on the moon and Reeves fixed the game on Sunday. Shhh, don’t tell anyone.
Wait, what?
I thought the holder was considered a QB in this situation. Clarification?
