That was the longest six hours of my life

Got to work this morning, checked my email, headed for the boards … Oh. My. God. There’s no internet access. And hasn’t been for the last six hours and 15 minutes.

I had to get up from my desk and go look things up in books. shudders

(Plus, of course, I knew all kinds of cool stuff was happening here without my participation))

I’m gonna go lie down with a cold compress for a while…

You’d better hoard some air while you’re at it.

(This post brought to you by Kythereia’s dare.)

I know that feeling. I have learned how to play a reasonably good game of Freecell, though.

You didn’t have to talk to real people though, did you? That would have been too much without a little notice.

Reminds me of one of my favorite cartoons. Two women in an office sitting at their desks. One woman is on the phone saying, “Yes, the computers are down, so we have to do everything by hand.” Both women have decks of cards, playing solitaire on their desks.

Yesterday at work I seriously had almost nothing to do. I think I worked for about an hour and a half, and I spent the other six and a half hours horribly, dreadfully bored. I came very close to going out in the hallway and screaming “SOMEONE GIVE ME WORK TO DO, PLEASE!”

But I had the Internet, at least.

Score!

pats poor twickster soothingly It’s okay. We’re here for you…

…and while you were gone, I can say with confidence that you missed at least 2 brilliant posts – probably more.

They were okay, sweetie, but “brilliant” might be a bit strong.

Oh, no! You missed the whole kerfuffle between Dex and Sauron! That thing went on for pages and I swear to God I peed my pants! Some of the most imaginative, inspired insanely funny stuff I’ve ever read!

Our AS400 was down on Wed. I had nothing to do at work but visit SDMB. Believe it or not, I did get bored after seven or eight hours. (Plus I started three threads that promptly dropped like a stone. :frowning: )
