Dude, I’ve done my fair share of meth. I’ve never stolen to get it.
I never said anything about defecating on any floor, and I don’t smoke. And I haven’t done any drugs in years. But I have lost a lot of friends to it. And I doubt they wanted to end up as the dregs of the earth, but there they are, all the same.
I had a guy I went to HS with come buy my house late just a couple of weeks ago, wanting to bum some money. I could hardly recognize him. I told him I wasn’t giving him any money and sent him on his way. And kept looking until I was sure he was gone.
Be careful who you rush to judgement on, you know nothing about my life.
Yes, like I said in post #57, third paragraph, first sentance and how lisacurl reiterated above. The point of this argument is about COOKING it, not who uses it and your stereotypes of those who do.
I’ve never met or have seen a lot of things. That doesn’t mean I deny that it/they exist. I don’t doubt that the only ones you might have seen or met are losers. That doesn’t mean that other have met the opposite.

I would just like to point out to the audience that this is a textbook example of how sweeping generalities will always get you in trouble on the SDMB. (Don’t try it at home.) Washoe, I’m sure you have seen meth heads do some horrible things, but as I’m sure you realize, not ALL users will be alike. Also, I don’t put all the blame on the user - they’re basically just weak/susceptible people who are being chewed up by this terrible drug. I’m not trying to excuse their behavior or their crimes - I sure as hell wouldn’t want them in my house either. But even if someone is a meth addict, there’s still a chance they can clean up and rebuild their life. (And no, that doesn’t apply to all users either - certain people just can’t be helped. That’s probably who Washoe was railing about in his first post.)
I hope inkleberry and inklejr are doing ok - any updates?
I too have never met nor have I seen a lot of things.
I’m pretty sure though, that I’ve met a condescending asshole. Preach it to somebody else. :wally
I used to do a lot of meth when I was younger, both in high school and college. I was never valedictorian, but I did get a bachelors degree in physics with a 3.7 cumulative GPA and a 4.0 in my major. I was inducted into sigma pi sigma (national physics honor society) and tau beta pi (national engineering honor society). I later received a masters degree in electrical engineering with a 4.0 GPA and am currently working toward my PhD in EE (specializing in holography and optical coherent transients). I have not done drugs since about the junior year of my bachelors degree (about 12 years ago), but at my peak usage I would smoke weed daily and do meth and acid weekly. These were my drugs of choice and I avoided other drugs. I tried coke a couple of times (snorting, never basing or mainlining), and heroin once.
I feel this gives me the right to say Fuck You to Washoe! You are a tool. If there were only people like you in the world, I probably would never have made it out of that lifestyle and would either be dead or in the gutter. It was people who are better than you (in all ways) recognizing that I wasn’t a subhuman that gave the ability to give that stuff up.
I haven’t figured out what word would best describe this . . . ironic or hypocritical?
Anyways, I didn’t mean to help perpetuate the hijack here. I get very angry when I see sweeping generalizations and people trying to lump “users” and “abusers” into the same category. I apologize to the OP and anyone else here who is sick of this childish banter, sometimes I respond to hijacks out of pure emotion.
kidchameleon, I am very aware of some local valedictorians who use it to get through difficult mid-terms and homework, lots and lots and lots of people of ALL stripes are using this.
There are many types of people from all walks of life and all levels of professionalism who do things that don’t fit into their hypothetical role or stereotype, including illicit drug use. This is the fastest-growing drug use in the midwest right now.
I get sick of this holier-than-thou attitude of “we know what’s best for you” and the snubbing and codiying that goes along with it. Unless you’ve been there and walked in their shoes, I think it’s a mistake to say all people will follow the same route. That kind of mentality makes one ignorant and gets no one no where. Again, I apologize to anyone not involved in this hijack. I just hate to see ignorance running rampant and the “broad brush syndrome”.
You might consider not using sweeping generalizations to counter sweeping generalizations.
It’s my experience that people use ‘tweaker’ to describe meth abusers, not all people who use meth. I know plenty of people who use pot, but not all are pot heads. I know people who use (well, mainly used to) coke and not all of them are coke fiends.
I wonder if tweakers would refuse to buy meth I made at work because we work with radioactive material here…
I’m glad that you are calling the local PD, not because I think druggies are scum, but rather because meth labs all too often explode. Scary stuff to live near.
Hey, PinkMarabou, I’m curious - is there a drug-related thread on the SDMB you haven’t posted to? I mean, you like drugs, we get it.
I don’t care how someone spends their personal time. That said, I won’t associate with regular drug users on anything more than the most casual basis, because I have found them to be unreliable and often in states of impaired judgment - neither quality something I look for in friends.
And to say someone “needed” Meth to get through exams, or some such - Bull. Most of the population seems to manage without. I did just fine. That’s just a weak excuse. I also question your representation of the number of local people who you say you know that used Meth. Why? Well, I just have the sneaking suspicion you’re a tiny bit biased…
It’s still entirely possible the smell could be coming from the cat box, even if it seems to come and go, and even if it seems to come through the wall that connects with their kitchen. I have a 21 year old cat with degenerative kidney failure and she pees A LOT. I do everything I can to eliminate or cover up the strong odor, like cleaning the box multiple times a day and using a plug-in air freshener with a fan, but there are still times when I’ll walk into my house at the end of the day and be able to smell it from the front door, even though there was no noticable oder when I left that morning, and the box is in the bathroom at the back of the house. And it does take a while before the odor disappears after I’ve cleaned the box, unfortunately. Let’s hope for your safety’s sake that that (or something similar) is what they’re dealing with there, too. Please do give us an update!
'Round here the same term is used for users and abusers. Not the “I tried it once” types, but the occasionals (not every day types).
Candid, they think they need it. Some feel they do need something, some use coffee, some nothing. That’s the wonderful thing about life, what works for one may not for another. What works for you may not necessarily for your neighbor. As long as it doesn’t become habit-forming people can focus better and get more work done, period. Speed is speed, no matter what form. Most professionals drink a cup or more of java each morning, you want to tell them they don’t need it to start their day? All I’m saying is most people in this country cannot get through a day without taking a drug of some sorts. Legal or illegal. Why pass judgement on them?
And yes, I do post in a lot of these threads. I think from my personal experience I can add something else to the discussion. I happen to be one who advocates legalization. I feel people should make their own decisions. A lot of times I don’t necessarily have all the facts in other threads, I try my best at them. What more do you want? And I DO post in other threads, when applicable. Yes, these certain ones catch my eye, I happen to be one who’s found a way that I enjoy my life and that includes experimentation. Doesn’t make me a bad person.
Do you call out everyone who posts in certain types of threads more often than others? I originally signed up because of the lively political discussions here and have found myself drowning in those threads because I am a newbie to the political world. So I’m trying to keep things to what I know for now. I’m sorry you’ve noticed where I post a lot, but you seem to be keeping tabs where I’m going around here. So I have to wonder the same about you . . . you like to READ these threads an awful lot.
Right about now would be a good time to let everyone know I do defecate on the floor. I loves the way it gooshes between my toes. It makes good finger paint.
