HA! We get no love. It feels like I am the only Raiders fan on the board too. We are a lonely lot. A lonely masochistic lot who are all too frequently disturbingly angry. I have many fond memories of going to the Colleseum with my Dad to see them play when they were in LA. The police usually made 2 arrests a quarter. :smack:
Still, there were those 2 seasons in the early 00’s that were pretty good and I got to see both Bo Jackson and Marcus Allen make some amazing rushes. And the team really did look good on Sunday. Not good enough to make it very far, but good enough to give me hope for next year if Al Davis doesn’t fire everyone again.
Wow, I never thought I would think this…but my Chiefs look like one of the top candidates for 0-16.
Our QB situation is abysmal. Run defense has been exposed. Coaches don’t have a clue. Receivers dropping passes right and left. And our punter is the MVP so far this year.
You must have missed the Niner game yesterday. Our QB was sacked 8 times and still threw for 320 yards! You can get an earlly start on the swearing though.
Once upon a time Al Davis knew football. Once upon a time he had something other than his ego invested in the game. This hasn’t been true since the mid-1980s. He needs to step back and allow his team to actually win for a change.
After week two, some teams showed how little dedication they have to losing. The remaining contenders, ranked according to my opinion of their suckitude:
St. Louis Rams (NFC West)
Kansas City Chiefs (AFC West)
Detroit Lions (NFC North)
Miami Dolphins (AFC East)
Houston Texans (AFC South) game postponed
Cleveland Browns (AFC North)
Cincinnati Bengals (AFC North)
Seattle Seahawks (NFC West) injury-induced
Jacksonville Jaguars (AFC South)
Minnesota Vikings (NFC North)
San Diego Chargers (AFC West)
Five teams won games: The Colts, Raiders, Redskins, Buccaneers, and 49ers.
I was only right about one of those. (The 49ers!)Both the Chargers and Vikings snatched defeat from the perilous jaws of victory. The Chiefs proved far more incompetent that I thought, moving into the second slot behind the Rams as favorites for the top pick in 2009.
You are not alone, my friend. I, too, remain a loyal fan after the LA years. This past half decade has not been fun, but we battle on.
As for the police arrest, I was at the game in '90 against the Steelers were a Pittsburgh fan was beaten unconscious – the game that started the alcohol ban at the Coliseum. It’s hard to be a Raider’s fan for a whole lot of reasons.
I’m a casual Niners fan - more of an Iggles fan. But I watched much of the game and was surprised. The first 8 or so minutes, they looked like a high-school team against the Seahawks, but I’ll be damned if they didn’t suck it up and play… not bad at all.
Avast! Scalliwags in BOLD be still contendin’ fer worst collection of bilge rats in the league!
There be but one game presently pitting winless teams against their own: St. Louis Rams at Seattle Seahawks
The rest be almost all visitin’ a foreign port: Kansas City Chiefs at Atlanta Falcons Detroit Lions at San Francisco 49ers Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots Houston Texans at Tennessee Titans Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens Cincinnati Bengals at New York Giants Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts
Carolina Panthers at Minnesota Vikings
New York Jets at San Diego Chargers (Monday Night Football)
These be my picks: all teams sailing in familiar waters (at home) shall be victorious. This be meaning the Seahawks (A mighty fine name for crew, says I!), Vikings (Our ancient northern brethren), and Chargers (Right good name as well) all be sailing away with their enemys’ ships listing and aflame.
You have no idea. I live a thousand miles away, and I still listen to Mitch and Lenny every Sunday. I haven’t decided if being unable to see the carnage is a positive or a negative. In any case, it’s going to be a rough rough year.
I am starting to wonder if the Rams are going for a “Major League” type scam to get out of St. Louis. They are playing MUCH worse than the sum of thier parts. Right now I am not seeing anything on thier schedule where I can say that they have a good chance of winning that one.
I understand that they do not have a lot of faith in the coaching staff any more, and for good reason, but it can’t all be that is it? This offense should be able to get into the end zone more than twice in three games just based on raw talent alone.
Maybe they can hire Lane Kiffen, he can’t do any worse!
The Lions have not been close. They did get a freakish lead 2 weeks ago in the 4th Qtr. They also managed to lose it by 24. They are internally sniping and could be headed for a meltdown. Could you tell?
