The 0-16 NFL Season Thread, 2008 Edition

I would be shocked by a 10-9 final.Lions D given up 10(or 9) points? C’mon.

and i disagree with the notion that the Pack has nothing to play for.Would you wanna be the only team the Lions beat? No.

The Pack will be extremely motivated IMO.

I also think the Lions have a better shot at beating the Saints than the Pack.

I’m hard pressed to believe that a Browns fan just typed this statement. Last season was your best record since 1994 at 10-6. The Bengals were 11-5 in 2005.

Your last playoff appearance was what, 2002 at 9-7? The Bengals made the playoffs more recently (2005).

The Browns also have never been to a Superbowl, and the Bengals have twice.

Now, the Bengals are one of the worst teams in football right now, and were the worst team in football throughout the early 1990’s until early 2000’s.

However, the two franchises are pretty parallel in suckitude. “They” are laughing at your team, too. And your squad sucks almost as bad as mine this season, and you can’t even really use injuries as an excuse. The Bengals have 22 people on IR, many of them starters.

The Browns, despite missing 4 seasons, and being being horrible for years while suffering through an expansion period deliberately crippled by the NFL, still have more wins since 1990 than the Bengals.

I’m just going by what I know from other AFC North fans (both on message boards in IRL) - even though the Browns are mostly bad, there’s still plenty of Steelers-Browns and Ravens-Browns animosity. As well as Ravens-Steelers. But almost no one speaks of Cincinatti in the same terms.

IIRC, Minnesota said the same thing before Sundays game. Nobody wants to be the team that loses to the Lions. That’s motivation enough. It doesn’t matter what your status is with regards to the playoffs. You don’t want to the the team that gives the game to what is possibly the worst team in NFL history.

And does anyone see the Colts, Saints, or Packers doing any more to give a game away that Minnesota did last week? And the Lions still managed to lose. I’m as bitter about the Lions consistent failure at failing, but I just can’t see how they’ll win a game.

Soooo, what you’re saying is that the Browns are the “slightly less red-headed stepchild of the division”, then?

Of course the Browns have been to a Super Bowl; they just went in disguise as the Baltimore Ravens.

It was 6 degrees at kickoff for the game against Houston last week, so we’ve already seen Rodgers’ first effort in the really bitter stuff. He was pretty lousy in the first half and better in the second…but it was the defense that lost the game.

Note:
The Lions do not know who QB will be this week. It will not be pretty. Hanson has had very few reps this season. If he gets hurt it should be fun. Stanton is trying it out but his broken fingers are on his throwing hand. Culpepper is still waiting for MRI to see if he can play.
QB depth chart is empty.

Jason Hanson!

Henson sorry. But he may be next. The cupboard is bare.

The truly scary/awesome/hilarious thing is that even now, I’m not entirely sure that the Bengals are better than the Lions. There are some amazingly awful teams this year.

I’m not sure they are better than the Lions either. The Lions have a better RB and can actually muster some points in their losing efforts. The Bengals have scored exactly 6 points on two FG’s in their last two games, and haven’t scored a TD in 11 quarters of play. Now that’s how you show offensive ineptitude!

No! Our team sucks more!

I resent that. The Lions have earned their disdain. The Bengals have won and come close a few times. They could wind up with 4 wins.

I think the bengals have given up though. The last two games they have been so worthless they might as well have not shown up at all. The Lions, for all their failure, are still trying. for whatever that’s worth.

Colts must be favored by at least 3 or 4.

Touchdowns?

Super Bowls.

Winning seasons? No, wait, that’s in powers of ten.

Channel 2 just said it’s Dan Orlovsky at QB.
