The 0-16 NFL Season Thread, 2008 Edition

Orlavsky hasn’t played in 5 weeks when he broke his right thumb. This could really get ugly.

As opposed to what?

Hah! He’s got you there, gonzomax!

Joey Harrington?

I doubt Orlavsky will make it through the game. I do not think his hand is healed properly. He wants the job and believes a good show will benefit his future. The Colts are not a good team to make a statement against.
Apparently the Lions do not trust Stanton. That puts Drew Henson in the mix. It’s all bad.

Harrington won 3-4 games every year, you know.

Woo! The bar is raised! We didn’t know how good we had it!!
please shoot me now

And lost more. He sucked. Bring back Mitchell.

Sadly, I agree. With 24 players on IR and guys starting that were selling life insurance or door-to-door steaks a couple weeks ago, we are really bad.

Our backup QB sucks as bad as any of the Lions QB’s…heck, I’d take Kitna back in a heartbeat as our #2, as bad as he is. Our oline is terrible. We have the worst rushing stats in the league and one of the worst defenses. And we can’t score.

They’ve mailed it in. Still, I’m glad we eked out a win against the Jags, because I certainly don’t want the #1 pick. It’s the Lions, and deservedly so. No way they win a game with their schedule remaining.

Maybe you could coax Eric Hipple or Rodney Peete out of retirement!

Orlovsky wouldn’t make it through the game even if his hand were in perfect shape. Detroit quarterbacks have almost zero protection in the pocket. They keep getting sacked and that means they keep getting injured. I’d be damn surprised if we don’t finish the season with Henson as our last standing quarterback.

Predictions are that the Lions will take Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford with the number one pick if he turns pro. If he values his health and his football career, he’d best stay in school for another year.

We can not take a QB. We need O line and defensive line help. We have to block and protect. We hurt a 277 lb QB already(Culpepper)

That assumes the Lions aren’t bad enough to get the top pick in 2010. But, then again, a different QB might be the no-brainer at that time. (I’d pick Sam Bradford myself.)

I know that. You know that. Everybody else pretty much knows that except the Lions. We should probably consider ourselves lucky if they don’t pick another wide receiver.

Medical school it is. Who knows? If the Lions suck for a long time, we may get more doctors out of our colleges.

Lions are underdogs to the tune of 17 points in Detroit. Even here you can’t get a fan to do a sucker bet. Hope does not spring eternal.

The Lions had 10 years of undeserved watchability and respectability from Barry Sanders. The beauty is they tried to get Green Bay to trade Mandarich for him and another pick.
Just think what a football wasteland they would have been without him. It would have been like now only 10 years longer.

Barry Sanders ran too fast. He should have run slower like everyone else running around him, so he wouldn’t get into trouble.

Poor Jason Hanson ,a great FG kicker who played his career in Detroit. He probably will have trouble making the HOF . It is not fair.

Well, the Paper Lions managed to throw a scare into those who want them to draft first, but in the end, they were the Lions.

They will in the end screw up 0-fer. They will beat the Packers, who right now look incapable of beating much of anyone.
