The 15th Annual Steelers March to the Super Bowl Thread

And I rather like how you got the reference.

Yeah, I called this one. Good Christ. Pittsburgh should be mauling these guys. Instead, 9-7 and a HaleyBall clinic.

So, have you learned not to say things like this now?

5 picks. 2 pick-sixes. Three field goals.

This was as bad a performance as I have ever seen.

Glad I’m not in the stadium for interception-fest '17. Pretty sure this loss has nothing to do with Bell’s training camp absence or AB temper tantrums.

Pardon my ignorance, I’m at work and can’t see the scores: How much did Pittsburgh win by?

Broncos are on the bye, so I had to curse someone with my big mouth.

Doors, probably time to start “16th Annual March” thread in a few weeks.

  1. The Steelers are getting rolled, and Big Ben should have retired a year ago.

  2. The Jaguars…? What? First they absolutely stomp the Ravens. Now they absolutely stomp the Steelers. Are they suddenly reverting back to 1996 or 1999 mode now?

A trade off I would gladly take: Steelers don’t win another game this year, but don’t run a single wide receiver screen in the remaining 11 games.

Maybe someone will be along with stats to say it’s actually a relatively successful play worth running, but I hate, hate, hate the fricken wide receiver screen.

As much as I would have cheered for this type of beatdown, even I was taken aback at how poorly Ben played. After the game he even admitted to a reporter that “Maybe he didn’t have it anymore”. It looks like the Ben era is winding down, all good things come to an end. Pittsburgh is lucky to have gotten as many years out of that guy as they did given the type of punishment he takes (admittedly, much of it self-inflicted to extend plays).

I think Ben has more left in the tank, but the offensive schemes may need to compensate a little. I don’t have the smarts to know how, but I find it hard to believe that Ben is this bad.

You know how a lot of the game is mental, being in the right mindset, having confidence, staying sharp and alert, keeping your cool, etc. Especially as a QB. All it takes for Ben (or any QB) to drop off is to doubt himself. If he starts that then it’s a vicious circle where doubt leads to failure which feeds the doubt… As good as he’s been (and he’s been good, heck he was my fantasy football hero a few years back) it’s not inconceivable that he might not have it anymore.

Well, Pittsburgh certainly shook off the blues on that one. But man, that hit by Mitchell on Alex Smith was pretty damn shady, and late. Smith was furious with him and yelled at him over it. Should have been a roughing the passer call, but the refs didn’t “see” it.

After last week’s performance taking down the Chiefs and the Rats stinking the joint up today, Pittsburgh has the chance to go 2 games up against the Bengals today.

The only real question is which star is Burfict and/or Pacman going to put out for the season.

So it was 29-14 and it wasn’t even that close. By the end Dalton was so shellshocked that he threw away a 4th down ball and never even gave his team a chance because he was terrified of getting hit again. Jim Rome will be calling him Chris all day tomorrow. He was outpassed by Robert Golden in the second half. Pittsburgh’s domination was complete.

Oh, and Burfict couldn’t resist being himself today. He refused to shake hands at the coin toss and on the second play he kicked Roosevelt Nix in the head. Never change, psycho.

Marvin Lewis has to lose his job this year. The Bengals are awful through and through. Pittsburgh looks pretty damn good, though. If they could turn some of those field goals into touchdowns they’d be outrageous, but a win is good enough for now.

Agree about Marvin (and have wanted him gone for a long time now) but your comments about Burfict are laughable. I wouldn’t shake your hand either, and the kick is bullshit. And even more laughable is that Mitchell even gets to play in this game after his late hit on Smith. You really need to recalibrate your “what is a dirty NFL player, Alex?” o-meter.

Your team is religiously the dirtiest in the league year in and year out and one Vontaze Burfict doesn’t counteract that. In a poll that asks NFL players whom the dirtiest team in the league is, year in and year out, it’s you.

“But that’s just good Stiller footbawl, hurk, hurk, yinzer this, etc”

Inability to convert on 3rd and short a few times late was troubling, but a nice win. Losing to the bungles the week after beating KC would have been a very Steelers thing to do. I wonder which Lions team will show up next week.

This Article puts the Steelers at 5th dirtiest, with the Bengals at #2, for what its worth. Can you point to a recent poll of players that backs up your statement?

In any case, how’s it going? Steelers have had a major split personality this year, and I still can’t stand Haley’s playcalling, though the actual offensive plays themselves are fine…but I’m getting real sick of the 20 yard downfield pass on 3rd and 1. The defense looks beastly the past few games. TJ Watt is my hero.

JuJu!

Glad to just get out of Detroit with a win and head into the bye week to heal up for the 2nd half. Detroit is a tricky team with the ability to put up a lot of points, but it was good to see the defense stand tough in the redzone despite otherwise giving up a lot of yards.
