The 2009 NFL free agency thread

Although I didn’t specify younger and healthier quarterbacks, I don’t know the answer to your question.

Unless he magically falls to us at number 12, I truly fucking hope not.

I’m hearing rumors that we’re going to trade our two first-rounders to move up and if it proves to be true I’m showing up at McDaniels’ house with a sock full of quarters, a tank of honey, some heavy duty kidnaping rope and a crate of pissed off African Fire ants.

We have a golden (or at least gold plated) opportunity to finally fix up a defense that couldn’t tackle a stroke victim and we’re going to blow our load on an overrated and unproven QB with nowhere near Cutler’s raw talent just because he played for the same school as the object of McDaniels’ ‘happy’ dreams?!

This makes me so angry I must… I just gotta… DANCE!

Like this?

And yes, I can see them trading up to get a Sanchez. Although, depending on how sold they are on Orton, they could make like they want him and see if the pick is marketable.

That is exactly what I was thinking of when I said that. Kudos to you, good sir. Now please deliver me McDaniels, bound and gagged and ready for the African Fire Ants and our transaction will be complete.

I am not familiar with the minutia of the situation, only what I’ve heard on SportsCenter. What did McDaniels lie about, and what was he a dick about?

I’m wondering what about exactly throwing a hissy fit over an organization entertaining the possibility of a trade and not returning calls to your coaches and owner is a “leadership ability”. He walked away from his teammates because his itty bitty fweelings got all hurtsy. That’s not leadership ability, that’s being a whiny little bitch.

When the story broke, he originally told Cutler that he was never up for consideration to be traded. Later, after everybody found out that he had every intention of getting Matt Cassel (which still blows every neuron in my brain) Cutler was upset and just wanted confirmation that his head coach wanted him on the team. They had a meeting and instead of confirming that yes, you are our guy, he gets into this “I DO have a large penis” argument and basically tells Cutler to STFU. Cutler’s biggest issues were the lack of faith his coach has in him and the trust that was shattered by the deception. Yes, Cutler was an incredible and immature baby, but all he needed was a tiny bit of reassurance and he’d be fine. I don’t disagree in McDaniels approach, that football is a business and he should consider any and all methods of improvement, only the dickish, 3rd grader way he went about handling a very delicate situation. If it were Mike Shannahan or any other competent head coach in the league, regardless of the fact that we tried for Cassel, Cutler would still be our guy and he’d be pleased as punch about it.

I can’t wait until that whiny little bitch starts gouging the Packer defense for 350 yards.

Who’s he throwing the ball to?

Charles Woodson.

Can always pick Burress who has been released.

So, when Plaxico winds up not going to jail for any meaningful length of time, which team will be the beneficiary of the Giants’ decision to cut him? I’m guessing Dallas.

Or Cincinnati.

Cutler could throw for 3500 yards a game, and he’d still be a whiny bitch. But it’s nice to see the Bears fans with a little bit of swagger now. It will make beating them so much sweeter.

I couldn’t care less if he’s a whiny bitch. He’s my QB, not my girlfriend.

I know. You already mentioned that you’re a Bear’s fan.

Now, now, children… play nice.

As the “proud” bottom dweller of the NFC North, our division has no room to brag. Let’s cave some skulls in and go back to destroying the pussy NFC East and then we can talk shit, k?

Thanks for the recap. It does sound like McDaniels handled it poorly.

But even still, the correct response from Cutler should have been to shut up, work hard, and show his new coach on the field that he was an idiot to consider someone else, rather than throwing a hissy fit. He comes out of this situation looking like a hothouse flower.

I completely agree. My opinion of Cutler soured immensely after this whole debacle.

But… the guy can chuck a football.
