I have to give props to Spezza, because I’m been killing him all series. He had a good game tonight, and Foligno and Regin were incredible.
And, of course, Leclaire was fantastic. That’s the goaltender Ottawa thought there were getting last year.

Shush. That’ll be enough out of you.
Rock the Red! (Or, as my friend says for the road games “Wock the White.”)
GO CAPS!!!
Maybe it’s time the Devils found a backup for Brodeur and gave him a few more games off in the season. Course, maybe it’s time the Devils founds some offense so he wouldn’t be responsible for stealing every game.
Halak is in tonight.
My expectations have basically been met. I figured Halak would steal one game. He got Game 1 for them.
We’re just not good enough this year.
Finally the Sharks get the scoreboard to reflect the play on the ice. Five goals, chasing Anderson after four. Even Marleau got a goal, and Nabby a shutout.
If they gave an MVP award in the first round you’d have to give Anderson a long look. He has kept the Avs in a series that should/could be a blow out.
By golly, the Habs stayed alive tonight, beating the Caps 2-1.
Game 6, Monday night back in Montreal.
In other NHL news, Drew Doughty, Mike Green, and Duncan Keith are the three nominees for the Norris Trophy, given to the League’s top defenceman.
Also, the nominees for the Calder Trophy, the league’s top rookie, are Matt Duchene, Jimmy Howard and Tyler Myers.
Wings take 2 goal lead in 2nd half of third period. I got tickets to game 6 at the Joe, I’d love to see them eliminate Phoenix.
Jimmay!!!
Jimmay!!!
I am always amazed at how tough hockey players are. Belanger from Washington has six teeth shattered by a stick, gets the exposed roots trimmed in the arena, then finishes the game.
Belanger: “I knew I was in trouble, but what are you going to do? It’s the playoffs.”
It’s the playoffs all right, and I’m loving it!
Crazy finish in Chicago. The Blackhawks were trailing by a goal with a minute to play when Hossa took a five minute major for boarding. The Hawks looked like they were finished, but Kane scored a game-tying short handed goal with 13 seconds remaining. Chicago then killed off the last 4 minutes on Hossa’s penalty in overtime, and Hossa came out of the box to score the winner.
It was really fantastic. I nearly turned the game off after the Hossa penalty.
That surprised me not at all. In the regular season, the Flyers record vs the Devils was I think 4-2-0.
I can’t find the page on NHL.com now, however, each of the first round matchups included the win-loss-tie stats for matches those teams played during the regular season. Flyers vs Devils stood out, plus one of the other matchups (Chi/Nsh?).
I was wondering about that Eastern Conference, with all four series going to 3-1. Everyone else put up quite a fight, but not the Devils.
Na na na na
Na na na na
Hey hey hey
Goodbye!!!
I’m indifferent to the Sens; I’m a Habs fan.
If we can pull off the upset, and Boston can finish off Buffalo, we’d get you in the second round.
After the end of the Pens-Sens game, they were interviewing someone from the Penguins. I noticed in the background tons of people wearing red shirts waving white towels. A salute to a victorious opponent? If so, that was pretty awesome of the Senators fans. What a fun series to watch. Go Pens!
And that’s all for the Avalanche, as the Sharks hold them without a shot for the last 15 minutes in the third, and beat them 5-2, although the last two were in an empty net.
Good season for the Avs, though, especially after finishing last in the West and 28th overall the year before.
They just showed a repeat of the game, including the Cooke interview at the end. That was definitely Ottawa fans giving the Pens a short little salute behind him. Very, very classy fans there :D.
Now, on to Round 2. (And what a great birthday present for Kris Letang – it was his 23rd!)
