No. They were saying Obama needs to do those things. Not the Republicans.
When words fail me, I let Dante speak with an allegory:
Divine Comedy (The Inferno–Canto VII, 109 - 126).
I would like to introduce my newest addition to the American lexicon: 5th Circle conservatives.
I’m not going to gloat. The guy I favored won so why not be generous in victory? I said earlier this week that if Romney won, I’d wish him success and hope that he would be a better president than I expected. I like to think that his supporters now have the same thoughts for Obama.
But I’ll admit I got a chuckle out of Trump having a meltdown. Even conservatives have to admit that guy’s a putz.
And I hear Karl Rove was… a tad upset by Fox News calling Ohio for Obama when it did? I didn’t see it, but the descriptions sound hilarious.
Am I alone in wishing this were in the Pit, so I could speak more freely?
My tweet to Trump, a few minutes ago:
I was thrilled to see the Rape Boys (Akin and Mourdock) losing, and Allan West was sweet icing on the cake. If Bachmann loses I may actually dance in my office.
Also:
No, the world is relieved, from all the foreign political and economic commentary I’ve seen. Except Iran - they’d like a return to Bush-era policies.
In the same thread where they denounce Obama’s rampant socialism two of them mention moving to Canada or South America. I don’t think they know much about Canada or South America.
Or Obama, or socialism. And their definition of “rampant” may need a little work, too.
I would also appreciate if you keep your loonies out of our island. There’s too many of those here already and they are no more happy here with “the lazy browns” than they were in the “Soviet Republic of United States”.
New laws were recently passed tightening immigration here. Perhaps our congressnuts knew Obama was going to win and prepare for the onslaught.
It’s hard to get re-elected while you’re oppressing the masses and salting the earth.
They’re welcome to move to Canada. We’ll teach them the truth about socialism and send them back to you properly indoctrinated.
I’m going to do something I haven’t done since November, 2008.
I’m going to listen to Rush Limbaugh.
And if we go by past promises like this, we’re probably also looking at the lesser used definition of “moving” that doesn’t actually involve going anywhere.
Rush’s answer as to why Romney lost?
Racist Democrats.
Yup, African American voters, Latino voters, etc, are all racists. Why don’t they understand that the Republican party is the party of inclusion, what with such lauded names as:
Clarence Thomas
Herman Caine
Michelle Bachmann (whom Rush called an “extraordinarily accomplished woman”)
Alan Keyes
and, of course, Mario Rubio who is now regarded as The Answer.
OK, Rush. Got it. Racist Democrats - check.
This gives me high hopes for the future of the Republican party.
Specifically, my hope that it crumbles into a regional (Southern) party with very little national influence, allowing the Democrats to become the moderate/conservative party, with space for a truly progressive party on the left.
My sister is Canadian, and she is constantly complaining about the “Bush clone” running the country.
I love this thread though! Here’s a great one, worth reading in full but here’s a taste:
“Gelatinous clown” and “perfidious betrayal” in one paragraph–nice. Almost expected that section of the rant to close with “Good day, sir–I said good day!”
ETA:
I could see something like that happening, but one result might be that the regional rump faction of the GOP would become competitive again. Power might ricochet around among all three factions periodically. Not necessarily horrible, but something to keep in mind.
Here in Minnesota, every first Monday of the month at 1pm, they test the emergency Tornado/Storm sirens. They just went off about 5 minutes ago.
All I could do was think, with the election yesterday and all the crazy fearmongering idiots out there… The 9-1-1 calls caused by the sirens must be really interesting right now.
“Turn those machines back on!!!”

If the Republican party fractured then the Democratic party would fracture as well. While the fault lines in the Democratic party are not nearly as deep, there is a liberal wing to the Democratic party that is kind of sick of the rest of the Democratic party and tehre is a conservative wing of the Democratic party taht sort of feels the same way.
