(insert standard joke about the Bush Presidential Library here)
Did they buy another coloring book?
Ted Cruz will be running? Joe McCarthy lookalike comparisons in five, four, three, two…
What Alan Grayson deposits in his toilet has more intelligence and integrity than Cruz. Sure, he’s a bit on the brutally honest side, but what he says is true whereas Cruz lies as comfortably as his intellectual equal, Sarah Palin.
May I ask WTF you’re referring to? What rhetoric of Obama’s is just rhetoric?
Most of us already have; eventually even the Party of Discrimination will get a clue.
No, once you enter the world of commerce and filthy lucre, everyone’s filthy lucre has to be as good as everyone else’s. If they can pay, you can turn them down on the basis of inappropriate behavior or dress for your place of business, and that’s about it. If you’re a masseur (to use a personal-services example), you don’t get to refuse black customers or gay customers. You get to tell someone to get lost if they ask you for a handjob.
And attorneys cannot discriminate.
Wait a minute, attorneys get like $200/hr for a handjob?
Mark Everson, former IRS commissioner, is in:
He’s definitely different. He’s Warren-like about the big banks and wants to reinstitute the draft.
Since we all have to enter the world of filthy lucre, that means none of us have freedom of religion, according to your argument.
Plus you’re just plain wrong on the idea that individuals can’t pick and choose who they’ll work for. The Civil Rights Act only applies to public accomodations, not individuals providing services. If you own a “public accomodation”, you have to serve everyone who enters. If you offer services for money though, you get to refuse any client you choose unless state law specifies otherwise. And even there, the problem is that some people have been dumb enough to say they won’t take the job because a person is gay. Believe it or not, you are allowed to refuse to take employment if your boss is gay. And you can even say that’s why you refused to work for him!
He’s no longer one of ours, as discussed in an earlier thread: Ted Cruz abandons his Canadian political ambitions
His mother wasn’t Cuban. She was born an American, in Wilmington, Delaware. That’s how Cruz is an American: he was born in Canada, but his mother was native born American so he automatically was American from birth.
Just came across a 50 page opinion from the Congressional Research Service on the whole issue of presidential citizenship, which some might find interesting: Qualifications for President and the “Natural Born” Citizenship Eligibility Requirement
I thought this thread was about Republican candidates. Anyhow, this is rather like the polls on Obamacare- they tell the pollsters they hate it but are in favor of every one of its provisions when asked about them individually. They may tell the pollsters they want a change from the current administration, until that alternative is forced to take shape.
Lesson Number One for the Cruz campaign- secure your domain name.
Voters are in favor of the individual mandate, having to get new insurance when they liked their old insurance, Medicare Advantage cuts, and higher taxes? Who knew?
Sure you do. You can pray in any church you like, or none at all. You just don’t get to discriminate against people based on which version of The Great Fairytale you genuflect to.
Welcome to America.
Can we keep this thread on the 2016 GOP candidates, please?
Law school is a lot more interesting than most people think it is.
That’s freedom of worship, not freedom of religion. Religion isn’t going to church, it’s how you live your life.
Jindal is a useless twat who I wouldn’t put in charge of a pretzel stand, but I laughed at this tidbit from the article:
Oh, Addicting Info - don’t ever stop being so irredeemably lefty.
Voters are in favor of people not dying due to lack of affordable insurance, a reduced rate of medical cost inflation, and lower or stable taxes.
But your freedom cannot impinge upon mine. Remember the quote about how your freedom to swing your fist ends at the end of my nose (Oliver Wendell Holmes, wasn’t it)? Your argument is that your freedom to swing your fist INCLUDES the right to punch me in the nose. Discrimination is a harm, just as a punch in the nose is.
