I just received a letter with what I assume is a postcard in it from Netherlands, but My Beloved says not to open it until I bring it home tonight after work.
Got home just now, opened the envelope, and two beautiful postcards appeared. One is a beautiful night shot of a busy street in Amsterdam. The long camera exposure gives a rainbow effect to the traffic. The second card is a day shot of a courtyard in a royal castle in The Hague, complete with a statue of Someone Important (I am sure) sitting on a horse with one foot raised…the horse, not the person astride the horse. Both cards from @JoseB contain his personal notes, and they are very appreciated. Thank you!
I also got an envelope in the mail today containing two cards from @JoseB. One shows a field of tulips overlooked by two windmills turbines - a nice blend of the traditional and modern. The other is of a trail in the dunes at a beach. It must be unnerving to have to go uphill to get to the sea.
Believe me, the dunes are nice and gentle, there’s nothing really “uphill” in the whole Netherlands.
As opposed to Tennessee, where everything is uphill.
My giant pile of just-delivered held vacation mail also contained an envelope with two postcards from JoseB. Both of important buildings in The Hague.

I just received a batch of postcards from @pjd! Postmarked June 1 - I suspect they’ve taken a few trips around the globe!
The postcards depict landmarks from pjd’s hometown of Stevenage, Britain’s first “new town”, which were towns that underwent development post-WWII to relocate people from poor or bombed-out housing. His school was founded in 1558!

Got a (second) card yesterday from @Karen_Lingel – I’m a fortunate guy!
This one comes from the Centre of the Universe, which turns out to be an observatory in Victoria, BC (I never want to hear again that “Canadians are modest and self-effacing” :))
The message Karen writes begins “I got so lost coming back from the centre of the universe…”
On the way to figuring out the correct path she ran over a lizard–“but it was his fault.” Damn straight.

True. But most don’t advertise the fact.
Imagine browsing on Google Maps to see if there is anyplace you might want to stop while driving back from the airport and seeing “The Centre of the Universe” as a location on the map! I’m thinking AI did some crazy calculations, then put the result on the Google Map! I had to stop. (It was really cool!)
As with @Ulf_the_Unwashed , I also got a second card for “Center of the Universe” from @Karen_Lingel today - thanks for the bonus!

Received today after a substantial mail journey two postcards from @JoseB featuring the appropriately substantial and Gothic/Neo-Renaissance styled Vredespaleis and Binnenhof buildings in The Hague.

And showing that this exercise is still running @Baker has sent a pair of cards featuring the bronze dome on the Capitol building in Topeka. Along with what must be the most expensive packaging/postage ever used to send a postcard in the history of the exchange. Wow. Thank you.
