Well he *was *black. At least McCain didn’t answer in rap.
Thank GOD for you people. Otherwise, I’d actually have to watch these things
It was boring and this is a bad debate format that is too restricting. Switching around the networks to get opinions at the end someone said the question now is if McCain and Obama would shake hands, but they were apart and mingling with the crowd. I glanced away for a moment and saw they were near each other with Obama holding out his hand for a long moment which McCain didn’t see or ignored so Barrack shook hands with Cindy. Right or wrong? Small point I know, but just seems like McCain is an angry old guy who hates anyone who doesn’t bow down to his opinions.
Anyone seeing any results yet?
“Green Behind the Ears”
Green as in third party, or green as in eco friendly?
Why was this a gaffe?
I thought the debate was terrible. Either they were throwing ridiculously cheap shots at each other or they did not answer the question that was asked. The latter frustrated me the most. Some of these questions were really good questions and they weren’t even answered. I was also very disappointed in Obama - he rolled in the mud pit with McCain with all of the mudslinging. I expect t hat of McCain, not with Obama. Guess that shows he’s human after all - and here I was hoping he was the AntiChrist :(.
- Honesty
To use a sports analogy, Obama is taking the air out of the football. He’s got the lead and he’s just going to pound it up the middle and run the clock. It’s boring to watch, but it wins games. You don’t put the ball in the air if you don’t have to.
CNN instapoll
Who did the best job in the debate?
McCain (R) 30
Obama (D) 54
CBS says 36% Obama, 35% tie the rest for McCain. I think. MSNBC just quoted the CBS poll a second ago and I’ve forgotten the numbers already.
Cindy can’t shake hands…her bones are too brittle. Remember the cast she had to sport after a voter touched her?
It should have been either “green” as in inexperienced or “wet behind the ears” as in…well, inexperienced. Combining them makes it nonsense.
Watched it, came back here and scooted through for observations,
Two to add: What was up with McCain wandering up into center stage during Obama answering the health care question? Then, he was really disjointed and odd speaking. Senior moment?
While answering a woman’s question about the environment, McCain tried to answer her question with personal address, but blanked. A black woman named Ingrid. Perhaps that didn’t compute. A small, but odd lapse; he did well with everyone else’s names.
Except for Obama’s.
Did McCain leach the pigment right outta him?
I thought McCain seemed physically wobbly. His voice, his breathing, all seemed wavering, and I agree with whoever it was upthread who said he looked a little like Tim Conway shuffling around Harvey Corman. When he wandered into the camera, he looked baffled and lost.
I think I said (to my TV) “Answer the damned question! That was a good question!” the same number of times for both candidates. Grr.
McCain shambling aimlessly about the stage while Obama or Brokaw were talking is ready made SNL fodder.
David Gernin on CNN said it’s still not clear Obama will win “because he’s black.”
MSNBC is reporting that both candidates played a little too fast and loose with the facts in the debate. I’ve come to expect this from McCain, but it pisses me off that Obama’s now doing it.
I’m impatient - did you guys already talk about McCain’s breathing?
He sounded like Darth Vader on my tv.
I’m feeling a huge lack of specifics. I suppose I could go to their websites and read pages of policy, but I’d rather hear the candidates explain, with specifics, some of their plans. Take somebody as rich as McCain – does he even know what a tax credit is? Has he ever done anything but sign a tax return?
Look at how he compared his childhood with Obama’s. “My dad was away most of the time.” Not the same thing as being raised by a single mom who struggled financially. Maybe if his dad had been home to take a hand in his raising, he wouldn’t have been such a fuck-up.
I don’t know if I’ll bother watching the third debate. They’re just going to say the same stuff.
