The 4400 on USA

No, they were all put into cryostasis (no aging) and while they were under experiments were performed on them.

This series is six episodes long, and I read they’re keeping the last episode somewhat open in case it’s picked up for longer.

The Grid premiers next week too.

Oh, yeah, The Grid. I’m looking forward to that one, too. It starts Monday, I believe.
Also Rescue Me on F/X (starts Wednesday, I think) with Denis Leary as a NYC firefighter. Supposed to be mostly a drama, but with some funny elements. My husband (a 20-year volunteer) is looking forward to that one.

I hope it doesn’t get moved around like ABC did with Kingdom Hospital. The finale of KH was this week and I didn’t even bother watching, considering I’ve missed about half of it. I’m waiting for the DVD instead.

USA is pretty good about keeping things in one timeslot.
The 4400 will come right before Dead Zone for the next four weeks, with a couple of repeats throught the week.

<snicker>
I thought it was interesting that the foster-mother didn’t think to ask the girl if the creepy-comments was something the girl had a problem with *before * she disappeared. It seems likely as the girl was one of the first abductees, that she might have been chosen *because * she was psychically sensitive.

I hope the child is black, so that it’s discovered to be a retro pregnancy.

Michael Moriarty is a heavy drinker, and makes no secret of it. He was arrested a few years ago in Halifax for slapping his girlfriend and was ordered to stay away from her when drinking. IIRC, he also dated Alanis Morrisette back in her Jagged Little Pill days, but a quick google turned up nothing on that. Of course, that’s neither here nor there anyway.

I did find an interview with MM, although it’s source is not clear to me.
Also, a Salon article about him.

He seems to be a bit of a nutcase, although I suppose that would be exacerbated by the drinking.

</hijack>

Oh, also, I watched the show and really enjoyed it for the most part. The high-schooler did nothing for me in terms of story. All the other main characters held my interest. I’ll definitely be watching all six episodes, and probably any subsequent ones as well.

I had rather hope it would be the child Grandmother-Lilly and Richard Tyler should have had, if he hadn’t been taken away. Could the aliens have done that with only the genes of the granddaughter available?

New & Improved Carl should go into professional baseball. He’d certainly make more money with that than being pipeman.

I think the little girl is a red herring. It’ll turn out that the blonde is carrying the anti-christ and all the “returnees” are really demons. Or maybe not.

Sooo…who thinks that the baby will turn out completely normal and the coma patient is going to be cured? :dubious:

The worst part of this show is the commerical breaks. My VCR switches from pause to stop after 5 minutes, and it has been doing that at least every other break. Good if you need a snack, but not so much for the attention span.

So, it’s not the 4400 anymore, is it? It’s more like the 4398. (Did Orson Bailey die last week? That wasn’t clear to me.)

I like how Lily realized that she was no longer part of her daughter’s life, although her ex could have been a bit more understanding. I mean, it wasn’t her fault she disappeared.

I don’t think Lily’s baby will be “normal.” She’s sensing too much of the baby’s emotions (if that’s what they are) than a normal pregnant woman would.

I think Kyle will come out of his coma, but it will take a few more “treatments” since he’s so severely injured.

I’m glad Carl didn’t die in vain, that the rest of the neighborhood came out to take their park back.

This is turning out to be a pretty decent show!

There was no follow-up with Orson. I thought it looked like he was shot in the shoulder, so I’m guessing he’s back in quarantine like Maia was. I hope we hear more about what happened to him; I hate dropped plot points.

I hate the love triangle between the two brothers and the cute girl-next-door. It’s too hackneyed. I was hoping Tom (is that his name?) would call Shawn to come help Carl. He knows he can do something.

I think Lily’s baby is somehow alien, or part of whatever was done to her. Does she have any special powers, other than getting pregnant on her own and feeling the baby’s emotions?
Does Richard have any special powers?
All we’ve seen so far is Orson’s rage, Maia’s second sight, Shawn’s healing and Carl’s Superpowers, right? Shouldn’t they be getting reports of some of the others doing special things?

I really enjoyed this plotline…it occurred to me in the first episode that at least one of the returnees will discover his new powers and, instead of freaking out, hiding it, or going mad, will think, “Holy Shit, I’m a Superhero!”

That would be an interesting way to go…the returnees being sent back with the powers they need to face something back on earth. Sort of ‘Taken’ meets ‘Unbreakable.’

We last saw Orson in hospital bed, presumably one in quarantine.

Lily’s husband is a dick. First of all, to not even show up and pick her up after the 4400 were released is completely insensitive. How was she supposed to know what was going on? He was just going to leave her there knowing that the first people she’d want to see were him and her daughter? Then to act so nonchalant and cold when she did show up was just asinine. Just like Ivylass said, it’s not like it was her fault that she disappeared 6 months after she had their child and returned wanting to be part of her life again. I have a lot of trouble with this storyline, especially now that he has a restraining order against her.

How did he get a restraining order, anyway? I don’t know anything about the legal process, but surely you can’t just go up to a judge and whine that your wife keeps trying to talk to her daughter?

Will the latest episode be shown again this week? I forgot to watch, darn it. If not, could someone give me a synopsis please?

The episode is scheduled to be repeated three times: Wednesday 1AM, Friday 1PM, and Saturday Midnight.

Seeing how Lilly’s husband must have had her declared legally dead, and the dead have no parental rights, as far as the court is concerned it’s some stranger stalking a kid.
Still, considering the circumstances, it’s hard to believe that an American judge would give a restraining order. Maybe the husband has a friend who’s a judge? Lilly could, after all, file suit for custody.

Thanks Jeff!
