There’s an old thread floating around with just one post about the final ep of the season, but I can’t believe there are only two dopers who saw this.
I also cannot get why the show doesn’t generate more traffic here. It’s not one of my top 5 shows (Buffy, Angel, B5, Lost, Prime Suspect), but it certainly is upper tier.
And… whoa… was that a cliffhanger!
Why do I have to wait ten months for the next season
?
It did during the first season. Seems like it lost some of its audience when it ceased being a miniseries.
Who was that guy in the last scene supposed to be? It looked like he was wearing some kind of military uniform. And was that the location of where they all landed in the first episode?
The guy in the last scene was Jordan Collier, formerly dead leader of the 4400 Center. Uniform? I think it was just a shredded business suit.
Oh, crap! You’re right! I was looking at that scene thinking “Huh…kinda familiar, but I just can’t place him…”
Of course, …you knew when his body vanished that he’d turn up again. I guess that’ll wind up putting an end to the “Kyle going to jail” storyline.
By the by…anyone else find that they can’t stand Lily more and more each week? But then, …it would seem her daughter won’t need as much protecting anymore
Notice how confused he was? I get the impression that Jordan, like Kyle, was being influenced from within and that influence ended with him being shot
I was a bit annoyed at the whole Isabella grows up like she’s on a soap opera thing. I thought it would have been more interesting to show her as a toddler, unable to understand what she’s doing because she’s so young.
And the professor shooting up! Aha! And where has Jordan been?
Heh…as soon as I saw that he synthesized 4400 abilities, I knew he’d be riding that needle by the end of the episode.
Hell, I know I would.
I could have sworn there were stripes - like sergeant’s stripes - on his sleeves. I must have been seeing the tears in the fabric.
Well now that I know who it is, that makes more sense that they’d show him all scraggly. I wondered why Grizzly Adams, USAF, suddenly joined the cast.
So did I, minus the USAF.
I knew who it was from the back. It was a shredded business suit.
I wonder what the significance is that he’s wandering the beach where the 4400 were returned?
And Diana kissing (Malcolm? Marcus? Whatever Computer Nerdboy’s name is) Wheeeee!!
I think computer nerdboy is kinda good looking. The cliche about loud shirts and glasses is too tired though. Good that his specs are cool.
I think there’s a plothole though ( I might be wrong). When Richard said he might know someone who hadn’t been subject to the injections, I thought of Lily, because she stayed out of it and was on the run for the longest time. It turned out to be Isabel - but she had rashes too.
Isabel growing up that fast reminds me a bit too much of S.4 of Angel.
I am both giddy and a bit miffed about Maia’s prediction of war. Next season could be good if they keep a sense of mystery. It could go downhill fast if it’s just NTAC vs. 4400 in endless struggle.
Idle specualtion:
Since the future obviously have hindsight, they knew what would happen with the inhibitor (sp?) and that the 4400 would become sick. It seems they arranged to have Collier “killed” and out of the way for the showdown or he would’ve made way too much fuzz about the whole thing. He was needed to set up the 4400 centre, to counter NTAC, using his wealth and clout - but those assets would become a liability. The future puppet masters wanted as many 4400 in quarantine as possible.
I hope the writers are clever enough to make this whole ‘future influnces the past which influences the future’ a closed loop - like “By his bootstraps” or “All you zombies”, i.e. the individual players can’t change what’s happening and the mystery for us, the viewers, is in finding out what the plan really is.
I think it has to do with him being “reborn” (see above spoiler).
[aside]I miss having you in the current Story thread.[/aside]
Was “Grizzly Adams” supposed to have aged too, like Isabelle? Or was he just shaggy from not shaving since his rise from the dead? (That is, shaggy-not-shaved; or shaggy-old-man?)
I wasn’t able to play it with you guys, having to catch up after coming back from vacation and all, but I’m sure you’re having fun with it.
Oh, what was the story a few episodes back - where nobody except that blonde agent guy (Kyle’s father) remembered about the 4400 returning? I think that’s when Karina Lombard (Spanish girlfriend lady) joined the cast. What was that all about? Was he dreaming or was she dreaming or what?
She made an alternate reality–one that exists nowhere except in her mind–for both of them.
For some unknown reason the puppet masters thought that agent Baldwin should have a happy personal life, so Alana brought him into a time warp that lasteed eight years (subjective) where they met, married and lived a happy life, but without any 4400 reality (except as a vague memory for Tom Baldwin). Coming out of this, of course they met and hooked up. The episode was a good mind fuck.
BTW: I still can’t shake my image of him as the bad guy in Taken, which was much too similar, at least during the first season and on the surface.
No, she didn’t have rashes, at least not in the disease sense. What Lily was noticing were the irritations where they had hooked up the monitors to Isabel’s skin.
My reaction last night to the series finale: I can’t believe they pulled an Angel.
That’s about it.
