Apparently, Lewis is the one making the demands…
I didn’t see a response, but I assumed we were on. Let me know what you think Airman, and congratulations.
We are, but if you don’t mind I’d like to alter the wager to something of equivalent value, or even a donation to the charity of your choice because I have given up alcohol.
If nothing else, I’ll settle for the smug satisfaction of the moment. ![]()
Kudos to you. Are there any other vices you’d care to indulge in? Video games? Chocolates? Heinz ketchup? I draw the line at hookers and blow, but almost anything else that you would like. Something you can enjoy whilst sitting on your back porch with family and friends, after a hard day of work, to relax a bit and reflect upon your power of prescience.
Oh, wait, you’re a Steeler fan. Make that something you can enjoy whilst sitting on a bar stool in vomit ridden dive with other recently released prisoners, after a hard day of hatin’ on pretty much everything, to relax a bit and reflect upon how nice it is to play the Bengals and Browns twice a year.

If Marvin leaves it’ll be on his own terms. His contract is up, so either he signs a new one or walks. He can’t be dismissed because technically right now he doesn’t have a job.
I’m pretty meh on the idea of Marvin staying or going…but our offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski not only needs to goo, he needs to be drawn and quartered.
Technically, Lewis is already unemployed. They need to bring him back if they want him. If they don’t, they don’t need to fire him: his contract is up.
Edit: I see FoisGrasIsEvil has already noted this…I replied at the bottom of the last page, but…yeah.
It’s official: the Steelers host the Ratbirds next weekend. The one team that I didn’t want to see again. I suppose it’s one of those foreordained things because it always seems to work out that they play each other in the playoffs.
I’m not overly concerned with that, though. I don’t have any doubt that the Steelers will win. What I am concerned about, though, is the next week’s game. Steelers/Ravens games are always bloodbaths, and what will the Steelers have left for the AFC Championship Game?
On the bright side, it looks like the Steelers will have Aaron Smith back and that everyone will be (mostly) healthy for the game.
Two big rubber matches in the AFC next weekend. The Ravens winning yesterday basically takes away home field advantage for the Steelers. Home field, days of rest and minor injuries or fatigue seem to play no factor at all in this rivalry.
I hope Aaron Smith is close to 100%. That would be a huge plus. And I really, really hope the Jets upset the Pats. But first things first…
Unfortunately he hasn’t even been practicing yet. He’s been dressed and going through the team stretches but that’s about it. Jim Wexell reported him as being further away from playing than they thought. On the other hand, Ziggy Hood has been looking pretty good lately.
I’m not too worried about the Ravens’ offense. Sure they have Ray Rice but every team every week brings someone explosive to the table that has to be contained and so far the D has come through. More worrisome is the other side of the ball where we’ve already seen that our guys have not been able to handle Suggs or Ngata. There’s no reason to believe they’ll fare much better this time around either. It all comes down to Ben Rothlisberger in this one.
Amazing stat that I’m sure many of you have heard by now:
In the last 4 games between Pittsburgh and Baltimore, both teams have scored 67 points. Both teams had 7 TD’s each and 6 FG’s each.
I hope the 13 days of rest is the difference, but something tells me that the last drive of the game will determine the winner.
My concern is that the week off will makes the Steelers have to knock rust off their game. Baltimore came through last week pretty unscathed, but they have that extra game under their belt, something that can’t be duplicated by practice.
Still, they’ll have the rest advantage so it should work out for them as long as they don’t give up a cheap touchdown or two early.
The way these things work is, if the Steelers happen to win, they will credit it to having had a week off and thus being able to rest up and heal. If they happen to lose, it will be because of the rust accumulated during their week off.
I’m worried about some rust on the opening drive as well, especially for the defense. If I were the Ravens I’d throw deep on the second play from scrimmage. That’s as nervous as I’ll be to start the game is their first series. After that I think it will come down to who makes the big game-changing play.
I’ve already warned everyone I know not to come within 15 metres of me if they lose this one.
I heard the guys on the pregame show questioning Polamalu’s health. Out here in California we don’t get a lot of Steelers news, and work and life have both been pretty hectic for me since the holidays, so I haven’t exactly been following things too closely. Can somebody give some more details?
He has a strained Achilles tendon. It doesn’t limit him but it’s sore and could develop into a serious injury if not taken care of.
This will be an interesting review.
Stupid, stupid, stupid play by the entire Steelers team (and 10 of the Ravens) to not fall on that ball. If the whistle doesn’t blow, you have to get the ball. Even if you *think *you heard a whistle, you have to get the ball.
They made the right call. I don’t think the Steelers should have challenged tha one. It was pretty obvious.
Man, love how this game is going so far. Hate the Ravens, but hate the Steelers much more.
I hate the way this game is going so far, and it’s *not *because I’m a Steelers fan.
It’s because the game so far is being decided by two pass interference penalties and a severe case of brain-deadness, rather than any actual football playing.
