The 8th Annual Steelers March to the Super Bowl Thread

Ben was probably just trying to fatten 'em up last night.

Wow, are these teams that boring that a group of guys going out to dinner (Ben and the O-line) or a strip club (Hines and others) is a big deal? Sad.

I’m curious to know who will back up Legursky. Essex has been taking the practice reps so I assume it will be him although that’s also why they have Dorian Brooks on the roster. I don’t relish the thought of seeing either one of those guys taking snaps across from Raji and especially not with calling the protections. Hopefully Ben would call the protections if that happened.

Has Pouncey been ruled out?

I’m going to hate myself for typing this, but I have to defend Ben on that one. A large percentage of NFL players are big time drinkers and partiers. Who gives a shit as long as Ben shows up on time for practices, meetings, etc…what else are these guys supposed to do during this extra week…play Madden?

By all accounts he didn’t rape anyone (progress…Neanderthals CAN learn despite their enlarged foreheads!) or break any other laws…let the guy have his fun.

That TMZ story is a non-starter.

Now I have to go clean the vomit out of my mouth, excuse me.

Not yet. On the Steelers’ web site Thomlin said that time was running out for the rookie to prove that he was mobile enough to play. He didn’t practice yesterday and spent the day getting rehab.

(IMO we can pretty much rule him out though.)

We’ll know for sure in a half-hour.

Pouncey and Smith are both out for the game.

When Pittsburgh wins on the strength of a 50-yard rushing performance from Rashard Mendenhall Doug Legursky should be the game MVP.

Unlike Baltimore and the Jets, I respect the Packers and would have been rooting for them if any other AFC team had made it.

That said, GO STEELERS!!!

Go Steelers! (I’m having people over so won’t posting tonight.)

Super nervous already. Going to the gym to work off the nerves! I’m going to a bar with some friends tonight; nobody wanted to host (I love hosting, my place is too small this year).

You took the words out of my mouth. The Packers have several guys who would make good Steelers. I was hoping Pittsburgh would be able to draft Raji a couple of seasons ago. Dom Capers deserves a lot of respect too although I’m glad we have Lebeau.

I’ve been reading the blog of Lance Zierlein for a while now. It’s mostly about the Texans but he’s the son of Larry Zierlein who was our O-line coach for the past few seasons. Here are some clips of Larry talking about various topics relating to today’s game. I’m very encouraged by what he has to say about having Doug Legursky in there today.

Former Packers Ahman Green and Mark Chmura would fit right in.

So, is this thread going to get locked now or what?

Congrats on not ever giving up. A good comeback - just not quite good enough.

Brian

Why is that important to you?

Assuming the NFL lockout/strike happens, does this mean there will not be a 9th Annual Steelers March to the Super Bowl thread this fall?

We don’t want the Steelers to turn the ball over again.

The Green Bay Packers beat us fair and square and totally deserve all the credit on the world. Basically they made fewer mistakes and looked more comfortable on the big stage. I hope we can play them again in next year’s Super Bowl.

Congratulations to the Packers. Turnovers will do you in every time. The Packers earned it.

As I said in the other thread…

Congratulations to the Packers and their fans. The Packers earned every bit of it, from the turnovers to the victory. It was as good a game to watch as any I’ve seen in a while. Of course I wish that the result had been different, but at least the Steelers went out fighting and it wasn’t a fluky win. Right now that’s about all I have to say, I’m sure I’ll have more later but I’m not in a particularly good mood right now. Them’s the breaks.

I’ll be back to wrap this up tomorrow when I’m in a better mood. IF I’m in a better mood.
