These things happen. Just mentioning the name Ben Roethlisberger is like waving a red flag in front of some people. Truthfully, I’m surprised this didn’t come much earlier in the thread.
Oh, well. Be prepared for more of it when Pittsburgh wins. The butthurt will be absolutely epic.
Personally, I’m convinced the only reason Ben is still on the team is that he is guilty of nothing more than poor judgement. Were there even the slightest indication of anything else to it, the Rooneys would have gotten rid of him.
It is also interesting to note that on a board like this, known to be populated with posters having a preoccupation with certain salacious topics, a search on Roethlisberger pulls up dozens of threads where he is mentioned, but not a single one seriously challenging the outcomes of the alleged sexual misconduct cases. Just snide remarks, vague insults and unsupported passing references consisting of forgone conclusions.
Kinda odd seeing that much comment lacking basis in fact on a board supposedly fighting ignorance.
Well obviously there are only two people in the world who know exactly what went down in that bathroom, and they’re telling diametrically opposed versions. But suppose that this sort of thing happened to Ben a dozen more times. A dozen more, “It was consensual/No, he coerced me into sex and raped me” he-said/she-said back and forths. If this were to happen a dozen more times, I believe even the most die-hard Steelers fan would say, “Wow, there’s obviously something wrong with this guy.” That’s at a dozen. I imagine most would say the same thing if this were to happen a total of 8 times. Probably 6 times. Probably even 4 times. Hell, probably if it were to happen even one more time, most people would doubt him. At three times.
Me? I doubt him at twice. Is it that unreasonable? Especially when, as I pointed out, I can’t think of another athlete who has had this accusation leveled against him twice. (Correct me if I’m wrong!) There are a number of one-timers – LT, Kobe, and probably a Wikipedia page full of others. But twice? It beggars belief – ESPECIALLY when, as you pointed out Mince, these athletes are rich, often famous, well-built, and very often handsome, too. Prime meat for golddiggers… and yet we’re to believe that only Ben has been pounced on twice by these sexual trappers?
Sorry. Not buying. He’s as guilty of sexual assault as OJ is of murder. (Interpret that as you will.)
And Kobe went to trial. Quite a stretch there. I’m going to have to ask you to start comparing apples-to-apples, unless you prefer to continue your strawman construction.
I don’t actually care what went down in that bathroom. If the prosecutor had something, like LateComer said, he would have made his career by it, like . He clearly didn’t have shit.
The Tahoe woman was obviously a fluke because she was bragging to coworkers and friends about fucking him and sued her employer for bizarre reasons with a known supershady attorney, Calvin Dunlop.
But unless you’re truly verified scummy - Albert Haynesworth, for instance, face stomper and wife beater - then I don’t get it. These people by nature have questionable morals. You would too if you had shitloads of money and fame. Perhaps the only verified saint on both teams is Polamalu. He’s never seen in public without his wife or kids and is crazy religious.
For the record, and it is absolutely irrelevant, LT’s prostitute was 16-years-old. I said “women in bars” and you then made your LT analogy, prompting me to post “they allow minors in bars now?” implying it was an inappropriate analogy. Then Hal Briston came back with…
So how 'bout that game huh? Being from Chicago and loathinig the Packers, I have to root for Pittsburgh. Ugh. I hate the Steelers too and I curse the Bears for making root for them.
But just as a means of helping to prevent any more of the wrong kind of attention coming his way from the NFL – and especially from the officials working Sunday’s game – Harrison used Tuesday’s media day stage to deliver the following tongue-in-cheek message: “I don’t want to hurt nobody. I don’t want to step on nobody’s foot or hurt their toe. I don’t want to have no dirt or none of this rubber on this field (in Cowboys Stadium) to fly into their eye and make their eye hurt. I just want to tackle them softly on the ground, and if you all can, we’ll lay a pillow down where I’m going to tackle them, so they don’t hit the ground too hard… Mr. Goodell.”
Sounds to me like James’ head’s in the right place after all that nonsense.
My cousin’s wife has met Troy and says he is a total sweetheart. He’s always visiting kids at the hospital and keeps in touch with them, even after they’re out.
TMZ is reporting that Big Ben was drunk last night and was caught on camera singing “Piano Man” while drunk. He apparently charged up $800 in booze.
My own research finds that he went out to dinner with his linemen, bought them dinner and drinks, and then bought a round for the whole bar. $800 is pretty cheap, depending on how many people were in the bar.
I’m shocked, he should be in his hotel room, reading scrpture, reviewing game film while drinking milk and calling his mother before he hits the sack at 8:30.
