Binarydrone, you’ve been hear for over three years. So I know you’ve seen these kinds of trainwrecks before. Which means you’ve seen threads where a pig-headed poster is going on and on about how nobody understands him or everyone is out to get him or some such while everyone and their dog hands said poster his ass.

You are currently in that role. You need to step back and ask yourself what it means when nearly everyone disagrees with you. I’ll help you out. It means one of the following:

  1. You’re wrong.
  2. You’re not expressing yourself very well, leading everyone to get the wrong idea.
  3. You’re right and everyone is against you!!!

Have you considered this at all? Of course, if you pick #3, you realize how this sounds, don’t you?

I believe you that you don’t hate the mods. I also believe that you can have a chill discussion about the judgment of them mods. IMHO, what you should have done was take up that discussion with one of them in private or work on a more, shall we say, palatable OP. In that vein, I would encourage you to email one or two of the honchos and straighten this mess out.
God, I’m going to shut up and take a break. I sound like a JV mod wannabe.

Not at all. In thinking about some of the things posted in this thread, I think that the point is well made (and I am becoming convinced) that the moderators are not what I am complaining about. I think that what I am seeing is more properly directed at (some of) the Administrators

You offer what’s known as false dilemma. Poor moderation and no moderation are not the only possible alternatives here.

Whoa! I don’t think I ever said that the alternatives are poor moderation or no moderation. What I said is that “perfect” moderation is not possible (hey, no legal system is perfect.) The polarity that someone seems to have leaped on is “imperfect moderation” vs “no moderation.” But I dispute that “imperfect moderation” is the same as “poor moderation.”
