The Alina Habba Pit thread

If I was a shitty American lawyer and could get a big payday from a Trump PAC for doing a shitty legal job, doing so wouldn’t make me crazy or a patriot. Just based on this thread it seems Habba, maybe unwittingly, made a smart move by defending the Donald.

I suppose the standard for ‘success’ should be the outcome vs the expectations. If she was looking for a quick, 7 figure payday, she may well have succeeded quite well.

But if she was looking to consistently make 8 figures or more per annum for the next several years or decades, the jury is still out but it’s not looking so great

What are the odds that the face-eating leopard now comes for Ms. Habba??

The irony would be delicious.

Ask not whose face the leopard eats/It will eat the face of thee

Not my best work.

In before;
Donald Trump dubbed ‘Deep State plant to destroy Donald Trump’…

–OR–

Donald Trump dubbed ‘Deep State plant to destroy Republican Party’…

There is a percentage of US lawyers, who are little more than whores, willing to essentially represent anyone who is willing to pay their fee, hopefully avoiding ethical sanctions while doing so. And the US system is so toothless that the exposure from doing so is quite minimal.

How long would she have to do other legal work to earn the millions Trump paid her (presuming he paid her) for a relatively short time? Plus, the exposure she received. Sure, reasonable folk realize she was/is incompetent, and her posturing empty. But MAGAsshats seem impervious to facts, and unreasonable folk sign paychecks as well. I’m confident she’ll be able to dredge up someone willing to cut her a check to have her not entirely unattractive face spewing whatever garbage the client pays for. Time will tell whether her next paycheck comes WRT a courtroom, Fox News, a Trump administration, the Home Shopping Network…

At this point she shouldn’t be very confident about juries being favorable to her.

It’ll be fine. She just won’t check the jury box and a judge can make the decision.

Oh yeah, judges love her, I can’t think of a single time she’s ever been criticized.

You’ve Donne better.

I’m not following you here. What is the ethical problem in “willing to essentially represent anyone who is willing to pay their fee?” It’s not what you or I would do, but it’s not unethical as far as I can tell.

Send not to ask whose face the leopard eats; it eats thine.

On the contrary, I find it laudable if someone is willing to represent someone loathsome to ensure that they are treated fairly in court, that’s a real mark of professionalism.

Now, if that person is willing to do anything their client asks them to do, to the extent that they violate professional standards or even break the law, that’s a whole other story.

Sorry I phrased that inartfully. I was thinking that even a whore would generally wish to avoid something that could subject them to discipline, such as suborning perjury. I was setting an outside boundary - certain lawyers will represent anyone - no matter how loathsome, and will advance arguably vexatious litigation, so long as the lawyer earns a fee and does not expose themself to any risk.

I was also hinting at the challenge of many law practices. You may have the highest principles, but each month you have to pay your rent and utilities, so there is a strong motivation to represent whoever walks in your front door.

Habba’s been eerily quiet these last few days. I can’t help but think she’s going to leap out of the closet at any minute now.

There was some fringe murmuring in 2016 about Trump being a Deep State plant to destroy the Republican Party. There’s no Deep State but he still could destroy the party, with any luck.

Back on Habba: I understand why she might not be involved in the appeal, but one wonders if she’s now on the outs with regard to any of Trump’s other bazillion legal cases and teams. He might have to take her back if he keeps losing lawyers.

Scraping the bottom of the Habba-rrel.

Well, Stormy Dniels was able to discipline Trump, allegedly.

So it could go either way.

I’m passing your name on, to be put on the ‘List of People Who Claim There’s No Deep State’.
