The Amazing Race 10/25 - Do It Like a Madman

I’m sure team frat boy has a lot of practice yanking their crank like a madman. ba-dum-pish.

Next week: Ken goes totally ballistic, and raises his voice when he says “Please!”

That “Village Life/Work” challenge (or competition or roadblock or whatever) was edited so frantically, I couldn’t tell who was doing what and where.

Yup, that’s what I thought, too. They might have thought they had the valve closed all the way, but that little tug he gave it probably did the trick.

I missed that (probably when I was picking up dropped stitches…)

And this is why I can’t knit (unless it’s simple stockinette or garter) while I’m watching TV…

I deliberately dropped them. I’m working on a shawl, which has a pretty simple pattern but I managed to muck it up so I had to rip back a few rows (I mucked up so the pattern wasn’t lining up and I kept knitting the same row over and over again… which meant it wasn’t growing larger like it should). No lifelines either…

Usually I work on something simpler when watching tv.

Wimps! I was workng on a Fair Isle sweater while watching it! I did miss them closing or partially closing the valve, but that was more because I’d pretty much given up on them.

Here’s my theory about Ken’s meltdown. Tina has been on top of him pretty constantly to get things right and making it clear she only loves him when he’s winning. This week, he had to depend on her and she did not do well. As I saw it, she’s a big part of why they went from first to fourth. If she starts yelling at him next week because she thinks he’s screwing up, I can see him snapping at her and pointing out her lack of confidence. This is all theory, though. I don’t think I know any couples like them in real life because, well, they’re not really my cup of tea.

I think it’s being overplayed in the preview. I suspect that she’ll just be doing some general whining and he yells at her for a second. Which she’ll of course hold over him for at least the rest of the episode.

So should we start making our guesses at the first full fledged team meltdown? We’re reaching the point in the series that I’m expecting one soon.

I’ve got to put my money on the not-so-gay divorcees. Besides the fact that they’re not very good racers they’ve overreacted to minor things in the past. I suspect it’s just a matter of time before something in them snaps.

I also think they are way too focused on Nick and Starr, rather than on the race itself. Seldom has that worked out well.

I have yet to try Fair Isle…

Back to Amazing Race. I agree, the snapping of Ken is unlikely to lead to much, but I would like to see it when he truly does snap.

What I really want to know is what mistake causes a team to be unable to make it to the finish line. When will that mistake happen? They teased about it in the article before the Race started.

Half of the teams are gone, and we haven’t had a non-elimination leg yet. Isn’t that unusual?

Also haven’t had a double leg. Hmmm.

Not really, as I recall past races. The non-elim legs usually happen in the back half of the race. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the next one be non-elimination, and then one theoretically when the teams are going from 5 to 4.

Maybe it’s just me, but every time I see Ken I can’t help but think of Crazy Joe Davola from Seinfeld. He has the same sort of half-smile, glassy-eyed countenance about him.

I think there’s some crazy in Ken just waiting for the right time to show itself.
