The Amazing Race 11/22 - "Insert Pithy Quote Here"

Okay two points:

  1. Is Tina going commando? She told Ken she didn’t want to change in the tent because she wasn’t wearing anything else.

  2. The Dandrew march is even funnier if you imagine the lollipop guild song playing in the background.

Dan’s attempts to march (and the Russian soldiers’ reactions) were hilarious. It was the most amusing thing I’ve seen on the Race since Colin’s broken ox in Season 5.

I’ve always wondered why more stiffed cabbies don’t get the cops involved. I would.

Yeah, yeah to YOU it’s a racearroundaworld for ONE MILLION DOLLARS. For me? It’s a job and you’re just another schmuck who thinks he can stiff me.*

Since this is basically theft (in exactly the same way sneaking out of a resturant without paying is), I wonder why the Amazing Editors don’t put firmer rules on it. Maybe “Our camera crews will bail you out, but you lose one hour for each dollar (or 10 dollars or whatever) they pay.”

Fenris

*Wasn’t there one where the teams were cabbing to the finish line, the lead team realized they didn’t have the money to pay (early season), told the cabbie to wait and ran to the finish line, cab driver unpaid?

There is a rule. You cannot leave a cab driver unpaid. You must either pay the total fare or somehow otherwise satisfy the driver. This is why Uchenna and Joyce were begging so hard for money for cab fare right outside the finish line in their first season…they HAD to pay the cabbie or they wouldn’t be checked in. If they can convince him to take less than the full fare, that’s fine and good. But the cab driver must be satisfied.

I’d imagine that the production crew would simply refuse to follow the team if they chose to stiff the cabbie cold. The crew cannot aid the team in paying for the cab. That would definitely be considered affecting the outcome.

Not sure, but when Uchenna & Joyce won their race at the end against Rob & Amber, their cab got to the finish line and they begged strangers for money so they could pay their cabbie before running into the finish line. The ending was edited so that there would be tension on whether or not they’d get their cabbie paid in time before the other team showed up.
