The Amazing Race 12.19 - All Or Nothing

I found the Scientists’ win disappointing (they really didn’t deserve to be there, I agree with the wrestlers on that point), but at least that means the dentists didn’t win. Yeah, the Beekmans got lucky, but at least they didn’t benefit from any secret rule changes.

Huh. So I was the only one who fist pumped and yelled, “the girl geeks win!”?

Hafta be a girl geek to appreciate them, I guess. After the cyclists got eliminated I wasn’t rooting for anybody in particular, though if pressed, I think I would have gone for the surfers.

I’d feel a lot more sympathy for the Wrestlers’ point of view if they had not also survived a non-elimination leg.

I am happy with this result. The one team that no one thought would be in the finale actually won the race. I’m also happy that we didn’t have to endure Brooke running among those containers. Can you imagine the words coming out of her mouth as she kept getting the numbers wrong?

A glacier, perhaps?

I am fine with the scientists winning. If I’m not mistaken, every team in the Final Four came in last or next-to-last on at least one leg, so I don’t think anyone has a legitimate gripe about another team still being in the race. They all caught a break at some point. And if I’m not mistaken, the scientists were pretty much middle-of-the-pack throughout the race, not in constant danger of being eliminated like the Beekmans.

Great line from Robbie while they were driving around lost: “I’m calm. We can go to McDonald’s if you want.” I might have actually rooted for the wrestlers if Brooke wasn’t so whiny.

Yes.

I’m pleased with the results. I was rooting for Bethany’s floppy breasts, and her disability, to win, but I did not want Team Wrestlemania or Team Teeth to win. I can’t root for jerks.

I didn’t hate any of the teams that made the finale. The dentists annoyed me a little at the beginning of the season but they grew on me. Jim was a bit arrogant at times but I liked their intrateam dynamic and that they seemed to like each other. The wrestlers were super entertaining.

I was happy the Candy Girls won. They were nice to each other throughout and played pretty well.

The team I wanted (of the remaining teams) won so I was happy and those stunts looked fun as hell!

After the run to the boats, I noticed that Bethany wasn’t wearing a bra. So one mystery solved I guess.

Sig line!

Just read that next season will be all “dating couples” (i.e. no one married or family or just friends) but half the teams will be people who never met before the beginning of the race. Hate this idea.

Possibly the most boring season so far. I still have a couple seasons to catch up on, but this one was a bit of a let down. The wrestlers were the only entertaining team. I got tired of watching candy girl run around like she was wearing an overfull pair of adult diapers. The dentists were okay, if a bit scary looking. Stoner Jesus and wiggly stump & boob girl were okay mostly, but I’d say I really didn’t care who won this season. No one to root for.

I’d rather have another “unfinished business” season than date.com season. Oh well, we’ll see.

Are they complete strangers or have they been in touch online, just not in person? I couldn’t tell from the preview. Also, I could not tell if they were all male/female couples or if there were same sex couples in the mix. I’m not sure I like this idea.

What I think would be interesting would be if 22 random people were randomly paired up. Like they all drew numbers out of a hat random.

My understanding is half the teams will be couples who know each other and the other will be strangers the show paired together who literally first meet on the mat of the opening episode.

According to some people on Reddit, Jim said in an interview that the shipping container task took somewhere between four and five hours to complete.

That was on the show: the dentist guy who was waiting for his wife to complete the task asked the others, “How long have we been waiting? 4 or 5 hours?”

I’m happy with the result too. I always liked Maya’s spirit and happiness. It’s great to have an all female team win, especially ones who are scientifically inclined. And who weren’t surgically enhanced for max cleavage.

The Amazing Race has always had what I call the cleavage rule - if you were one of the few remaining teams with cleavage and you lost a leg - voila! - it became a non-elimination leg. Imagine that, show producers.

In that last show I half expected the wrestlers to be eliminated only after they ran to the Coast Guard station. To show Brooke running all jiggly in her tight outfit.

BTW here’s a picture of Brooke before her enhancement surgery: http://stillrealtous.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/brooke2.jpg

Anyway, although I was rooting for the surfers, count me as one happy that the scientists won.

Just an FYI:

I haven’t read any of this thread yet…

…however I’ve been a fan of TAR ever since I saw the first season about two years ago.
Since then, I’ve watched all seasons (in order) up to season 20 (which I just finished right now).

In the last month alone, I’ve watched NINE seasons (via Hulu), watching one or two episodes a day. Last month I was still on Season 11 and today I finished season 20.
Just yesterday I was finishing up season 19 and started on 20. I watched all of season 20 in just two days (yesterday and today). I think I watched all of season 19 in three or four days.
I’m about to start on season 21. I’ll probably watch the first three (or four) episodes of that before today is finished.
At this current rate, I should be all caught up before the next, new season starts.
Anyway, last thing I want to say: After every episode, I come here, find the weekly TAR topic, and read it. I’ve been doing this since a month ago while I was still on season 11.
So, for example, I’ve read all of the SDMB season 20 TAR topics in the last two days as well, on top of watching the shows.

A few of you already know I’ve been doing this, because I’ve messaged you about it. Fenris, zut, Jay Jay, Robot Arm, Terminus Est…all of you have gotten messages from me before that were TAR-related and you all know I’m a huge TAR fan too, but yeah, still playing catch up.

Almost there, though…I think I’m doing fairly good in catching up. :stuck_out_tongue:
So I guess my point for this post is just to say I feel like you all have been my TAR “family” all this time…reading all your topics and posts about this show and the episodes and happenings on it and contestants and opinions made long after the shows have finished, but for me it’s in present time, so it’s just nice to read every thread. Every time I see one of your names in a TAR thread (even from 1-2 years ago, where I currently am), I think of most of you as the TAR regulars. Thanks for all the great reading over the months!

Okay, time for me to get the first episode of season 21 ready and to find the season 21, episode 1 TAR thread on here so I can read it afterwards.

Ah, here it is.

You all rock.

I hope I can catch up sometime, because I’ve been dying to do my own Taxi Assessment for the longest time. I’m a huge fan of the usual one, so why not have two and see the different opinions on it? ;p But first things first… I need to get to the current date, haha.

I stopped watching around season 17 I think, and marathon watched to catch up. It would have been nice to read the corresponding threads but the naming convention used here makes it a PIA. If the threads were labeled like S21E01 it’d be a lot easier for people to find the old threads. 12.19 doesn’t help someone searching for the thread years from now.
