The Amazing Race All-Stars starts tonight!

Yippee!

The bastards have put it on at 8pm, though. They obviously don’t care that that’s prime getting-ready-for-bed time around here. Fortunately, our VCR is working again so I can tape it.

I’d also really have loved for it to be on a 9pm just to keep me from continuing to watch the train wreck that is this season’s Apprentice. I need to be strong and Just Say No to that shite.

Can’t wait can’t wait can’t wait can’t wait!

Thank the gods for my DVR–Sunday nights have gotten crowded for me with The Dresden Files, Battlestar Galactica, The Amazing Race, and Grease: You’re the One That I Want. (I’m not enjoying it, but I’ve got to finish it.)

Anyway, my early pick is going to be the Beauty Queens. I was rooting for them all the way last season, and I would really like to see them win this. I’ve got goodwill toward Kevin and Drew, and **John Vito and Jill ** also. I’m looking forward to hijinks and villainy from Rob and Amber, Charla and Mirna, and the Guidos.

The mister and I are going to have a little Hooray, It’s The Amazing Race! Party this evening. We’re very excited! He’s a Rob + Amber fan. I love him anyway.

And we, too, keep telling ourselves we’ll stop watching this wretched season of The Apprentice. But every week, we watch. Ugh.

Just a heads-up for anyone who’s DVRing TAR: the golf tournament ran long and so 60 minutes and TAR are both starting late, at least on my CBS affiliate. Same thing we had to deal with during football season in the fall. (I might become a Cold Case fan if this keeps up.)

Cold Case is a great show.

Yeah, I just never bothered to watch it before. But during football season, I got in the habit of recording Cold Case in case TAR started and ended late. So I wound up watching a few episodes since I had them DVR’d, and they’ve been interesting. The ‘relationship’ drama with the lead and her boyfriends wasn’t appealing to me, but I like how they handled the criminal investigations and I like the story structure–current events interspersed with flashbacks.

So, I’m not hooked yet, but I’m eyeing the bait.

Lily is seriously messed up (and that hair! Ack), Scotty is dooooooooomed, and everyone else is fairly normal.

I am so impatient right now for this to start…never thought I’d watch a 60 Minutes segment on Kenny Chesney, but I am…don’t want to risk missing a minute of it!

It did have Anderson Cooper though…

Thanks for the heads up on the delay. I hate playing back my Tivo’d shows and seeing 60 minutes.

I am so glad to Rob and Amber. They have been out of the public eye for so long!

Man, Drew looks bad. I had a major crush on him in season one.
Looks like Terry has had quite a bit of work done on her face, with creepy results.

I think almost everyone from pre-Season 5 looks … odd, somehow. Can’t explain it, but they all look different. And not necessarily in a good way. Except Jon Vito. He still looks exactly like Jon Vito.

How did Danny & Oswald describe the current state of their relationship? “Platonic husbands?”

I’m just now sitting down to join this is progress but—did Mary get her teeth fixed?

Drew? Did you not know you were going to be racing? How can you be in such bad shape, dude?

It sure looks like she did. And BTW: David & Mary’s kids are adorable.

Good god…I missed Danny and Oswald’s first season. But damn me if they don’t freakin’ even SOUND hooooooootttttt…

I think, for the first time, I actually have a reality show boyfriend. Two of them!

goes into defensive crouch Stay away, ladies!

I missed the beginning. Since 60 minutes ran late I watched Extreme Home Makeover. What happened up to the exit from the parking garage on the way to the park?

StG

I also missed Ian and Terri’s first season (I didn’t start watching until the 4th one). I don’t understand (yet) why everyone disliked Ian so much…the man was making me laugh all night. Crotchety old down-to-earth men are teh entertainment!

John Vito and Jill, Teri and Frat-D were ciphers. If I hadn’t actually seen Frat-D’s season I’d have no clue what they were actually like. Given that I didn’t see JVandJ and Teri’s seasons, I have no clue yet what their personalities are.

More Mirna linguistic expertise…“My name Mirna. Her name Charla.” As if speaking in broken English will make the man who speaks Spanish understand you better.

Why didn’t Dave and Mary try to go back to the American counter when they figured out the Copa flight arrived later? It’s my understanding that you can change your flight…you’re not necessarily limited to the first one you book. Admittedly, there probably wouldn’t have been any seats by the time they got there, but they should have at least tried.

Drew, who works as a court bailiff, was attacked a couple years ago and had a nasty back injury as a result. So he’s still nowhere near 100% physically, apparently. He really looked like he was hurting through most of the leg, didn’t he?

Oswald and Danny are as fabulous as ever! Love, love, love them!

But best of all? Mmmm…Phil! Damn, he looks fine!

Aw, man! That was one of the teams I liked, too! Oh, well. That Detour was pretty cool, just the same.

I am glad to see that my favorite team on this go-round, Oswald & Danny, are exactly as awesome and fabulous as they were the first time around. Somehow I knew they’d be the team responsible for this week’s title (“I Told You Less Martinis and More Cardio”). I wonder if they’d be interested in adopting me?

Not that this is news, but Ian? Is still a total dork. Does he have a setting below “Tilt”?
