The Amazing Race All-Stars starts tonight!

You’re thinking of Chip & Kim, I think – the black couple who won TAR5. Chip did all the Roadblocks except one. By Uchenna & Joyce’s original season, the Roadblock Rule was changed.

She’s certainly mouthier than she used to be. But she’s always been the Queen of the Eye Roll, going all the way back to when she was on Survivor the first time. So I supposed the potential has always been there.

Which reminds me – I loved how Danny met Rob & Amber on the airport shuttle, with the line, “So, I hear you two have your own television network?” Classy snark: nobody does it better than Team Cha-Cha-Cha.

Oh no. It’s happened.

(Points upward at previous posts)

Rockle and I have once again begun our ritual Merging of the Personalities for the Purposes of TAR. It’s like the Wonder Twins in reverse, and I apologize in advance.

OK, that’s it. You have to be the Twin who takes the shape of the bucket of water.

Ooooh. Wouldn’t that be a wonderful thing to do to them? Have all the teams get their names wrong EVERY TIME they address them?

Call him Bob, Bobbie, Ron, Ronnie, Roy in rotation. She can be, uh, Ann, Annie, Alice, Alicia, Abby.

They’d die.

Oooh! Oooh! Can I be Gleek?

Sure, why not? But you have to make your own outfits.

IIRC, Ian was an incredible ass. But, nothing compared to the asses we’ve seen in the following seasons.

The most vivid memory I have of Terri & Ian, is when they were changing their clothes after a challenge or something, and Terri was wearing some of those disposable panties that are used when laundry facilities are scarce. She looked okay for her age, but I didn’t expect to see it right there in my livingroom.
I have absolutely no recollection of Danny & Oswald. Were they on Season Two? I somehow missed that one.

Well, I’m a latecomer to TAR, joining the show only with Season 6 or 7, and I skipped the “family teams” season. So I didn’t know many of these competitors.

I have great affection for Uchenna & Joyce and Dustin & Kandice, but of course in the first few episodes one is more concerned about who gets kicked than who wins. I spent half the episode figuring that out, until it dawned on me that, of course, the ones I want to go first are the ones I’m least familiar with. Plus Rob & Amber.

So I was pretty pleased with last night’s outcome; I didn’t watch the season in which Jon Vito and whassname competed.

On the other hand, I didn’t watch Teri & Ian’s season either and already I think they’re great and want to see more of them. So please disregard this post.

Where are they on to next week? I don’t remember.

They usually don’t say, and I don’t remember the previews giving anything away. There are places where you can look, but I don’t have any links. Sorry.

I didn’t find any true spoilers, but I did find this chat with Phil from Friday (from washingtonpost.com). Some leg locations are revealed, but there is nothing in the link we can’t already get from watching the credits very closely. Definitely no finish orders.

Thanks for that link, rockle! I love reading behind-the-scenes stuff like that, and I found this answer from Phil very interesting:

“The time I stay for the pit stops or for the check-ins depends on the arrival times for all the teams. Sometimes it has been as little as minutes and other times it can be as much as 17 hours. That happened this season and the first teams to arrive left on the next leg before I had checked in the remaining team. That creates a problem for our schedule and makes our life frantic.”

I had no idea that ever happens. In that particular case, which he said happened this season, it would mean that

the first-place team was already five hours into the next leg when the last team arrived at the mat. Assuming a non-elimination leg, how could anyone possibly come back from that? I don’t see any way, no matter how much bottlenecking they build into the next leg.

I wonder if we’ll be aware of it when we reach the point in this season where that happened.

I’m going to guess “Yes.” Because there is no way that even the Amazing Editors can create suspense there.

Thus you dis TAE! But my faith is unshaken in their ability to spin tedium straw into suspense gold!

I like the eeevil way you think. From your lips to the other racers’ ears.
By the way, for any Canadians who are interested, the Outdoor Life Network is currently showing season 3. And I do mean currently, it’s on while I’m typing this. They are down to the final five in the race. This season featured John Vito and Jill and Teri and Ian, who are in the current season. Be warned: it also featured Zach and the ultra-annoying Flo.

It looks like they’re doing an episode per day? It’s on again at 10, which will save me defaulting to CSI because it’s such slim pickin’s on Mondays.

Well, I will admit that they haven’t won all those Emmys for nuthin’. I suppose I find my own lack of faith disturbing.

I don’t think they are, unless they’ve changed their schedule up. I think that they are showing one episode a week, but re-running it a couple of times during the week.

Yes, I’ve gone and checked OLN. It’s one episode a week immediately after the re-broadcast of the current season’s episode.

Sorry I’m late…out of town. ThankgodforTivo.

I’m not seein’ the luv for Team ChaCha. Didn’t like 'em in Season 2, and they haven’t gotten any better. Just chubbier.

Was Eric (of Eric & Danielle) part of the fratboy/horndog pair that hit on every female within a mile radius, in a blatant display of overcompensation? And now it turns out that Eric has pierced nipples. ewww. Just ewww.

Thank you guys for reminding me of Chip & Kim. I knew it wasn’t Joyce & Uchenna that spawned the Roadblock Rule, but I was blanking on their names.

So Team Kentucky is just happy and friendly and would like to buy the world a Coke, and furnish it with love…except for the Beauty Queens. The BQ’s can just go to hell, I guess, as far as the Coal Miners are concerned.

I don’t mind having Romber around…as long as everybody else ignores them. But based on next week’s previews, we’re in for another round of “let’s all obsess with Rob & Amber”…dammit.

I am so hoping the ChaChas are going to win. I really like them in season 2 though, so I’m picking up where I left off.

If you’re thinking of the fratboys in the season that the hippies won, yep, Eric is one of those two. I’d rather have had the hippies, myself. I think they would’ve bugged the heck out of Rob and Amber, and I would’ve enjoyed that. Sigh.
