This is probably the last chance that Trump has to use his powers to control the national militia. It’s worth pointing out that the defense reauthorization of 2007 actually gives the president powers pursuant to the USA Patriot Act, as well as powers under a variety of other acts, to use the militia in cases of “insurrection” and “emergency” – doesn’t say who needs to be leading the “insurrection.”
When, or if, this ends…presumably sometime this week, then I hope that the military urges Trump’s cabinet to use the 25th Amendment. Or I hope that there is an immediate impeachment. One of the two. It needs to happen immediately.
Trump needs to be removed from office and imprisoned.

Absolutely this. He sent that terrorist mob to the Capitol Building today, to disrupt the work of Congress. Anyone supporting Trump from here on is quite simply a traitor.
One other thing that would be good to see; When the joint session of congress reconvenes - there are no more objections, the idiot Trumplicans keep their mouths shut, and the electoral votes are all read into the record in under an hour. DONE.
Something has to happen one way or the other. The rebels need to be arrested and charged with sedition. If they don’t go peacefully, they need to end up the way their Confederate brethren did 160 years ago.

One thing which got lost in all the shuffle was that, yesterday, in Pennsylvania’s Senate, the Republican majority refused to seat an incoming senator because…reasons. They also then kicked out the Lt. Governor as he protested.
As I mentioned, it’s important to go beyond just the presidential election, this is so, so, so much bigger than that. This is becoming “normal” behavior for the Republican party. The Republican party isn’t just moving further to the right; they are radicalizing. The right wing in the United States is radicalizing.
This is not a movement we can just gently trust to correct itself; it’s not going to just realize it lost an election and say “Well, that strategy doesn’t work anymore, so let’s moderate a little.” No, we are much, much farther into the cave than that. We’re playing with some very high voltage shit right here.
