The American Coup: 11.9.2020 -

But what on earth does this mean? What kind of “security job” is this where the Park Police are contracting a private individual to work in DC using an unregistered personal Glock with 500 rounds of ammunition? This still makes very little sense.

He misunderstood the job ad for a mechanic.

I have the misfortune of belonging to the same demographic as most of those expected to participate in armed protests (white male in his 50s). Their bladders have had them all up for five or six hours now. If they’re not on the move by now, they’re probably not going anywhere.

If anyone “Forgets” where their gun is, I think this is a pretty good reason to not let them have a gun again until they complete a safety course.

Yeah, that’s unacceptable. Forgetting can be OK at times, like if you return from the store but you forgot to buy bread.

I always thought that ‘gun control --’ at a bare minimum – should mean knowing where the damned thing is.

Didn’t seem like such a high bar.

Alas …

I would argue that 2016 was then they wised up to fact that Republicans had long been taking the working class for a ride - which is why they supported Trump. Because, as they saw it, Trump was anything but a traditional Republican. He was, in their eyes, a table-flipping shit-stirrer who was promising to bury the establishment that had been taking advantage of them, and piss on its grave. And at this point it doesn’t matter that Trump hasn’t really done all that much, if anything, for the white working class. They’ve already bought into his legend.

Yes, it’s very “messy bitch” stuff.

Kinda like this but actually put out by a government:

Well, there are about 60 outside the Michigan capitol building in Lansing. There were going to be thousands, apparently, but it’s snowing. Although if you live in Michigan and you are deterred by snow, you might want to think about moving to Texas.

Pretty sad and pathetic the depths some ideologues sink to.

Here goes another nut job. Geez!

Well, you know, having been arrested she is part of “law enforcement” as a general concept.

Would it be wrong to call them a bunch of snowflakes?

Found it! So reasonabl yet total high class trolling from a government.

“With this unfortunate episode, the United States is suffering the same thing that it has generated in other countries with its policies of aggression. Venezuela hopes that soon the violence will cease and the American people can finally open a new path towards stability and social justice,” the statement said.

So much “show them, Freud” here it’s beautiful and sad to watch the collapse of an Empire, likes burning cathedral.

Yup. And in large swaths of the country they are not going back to backing what they see as “corporate sell-out” Republicans any time soon.

I was thinking earlier that during the Red Scare, Commies (or suspected Commies) who didn’t exhibit radical behavior were derided as “parlor pinks.” What should we call these “patriots” who have all of a sudden realized that going beyond their usual bluff&bluster might have negative consequences? Reticent rednecks? Gutless gundamentalists?

Pussies? Their leader coined that one.

Seditious snowflakes.

I hope “convicts” pretty soon.

If anyone’s interested, ProPublica has posted the videos they’ve gleaned out of the Parler dump. They’re available by location and timeline.

There were also rallies prior to the 6th organized by other well-organized conservative groups, which I am sure just helped fire up the gullible even more:

The fiery rallies that preceded the deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 were organized and promoted by an array of established conservative insiders and activists, documents and videos show.

The Republican Attorneys General Association was involved, as were the activist groups Turning Point Action and Tea Party Patriots. At least six current or former members of the Council for National Policy (CNP), an influential group that for decades has served as a hub for conservative and Christian activists, also played roles in promoting the rallies.

The two days of rallies were staged not by white nationalists and other extremists, but by well-funded nonprofit groups and individuals that figure prominently in the machinery of conservative activism in Washington.
