The Americans Season 3

I have to share this … people who look at the blog come from all over. I just got someone look at it from Palestine. And another from a French island called Reunion - man, you’ve got to love the internet

a lot of international love for The Americans

I didn’t know where MASH was shown, but I do know Channel 5 is a Fox Channel and has been for years. Wiki says since 1947. I remembered the Belmont commercials as well, when I first heard it I had to think for a second what it was!

No, it says since 1986.

In fact, the Fox Network didn’t exist before 1986.

I am shocked that you can immerse yourself into the story so deeply that you can actually think of these characters as real life people to the point where you can feel what they are feeling and you do not just consider them as just actors playing a part. I must admit that just knocks me for a loop! How powerful the story must be if it can do that to you. Either that or you must be a very emotional person who feels things so very strongly. Either way, it just seems to me to be a very powerful sign of the show that it is able to do that to an adult person here in this thread. In either case, I have found a new level of respect for you as well as for the power of the acting and the writing of this show.

I always knew there was a reason why I feel so strongly attached to this show so that I participate in this thread to the exclusion of just about all other threads. I know that I do participate in some other threads and I’m looking forward to Ellis Dee tell me just exactly how much I do that. (No offense to you Ellis. I respect your ability to do that). However, it sure does seem to me like I have only made one post to all other threads on this board while this shows has been running. In truth, I looked it up and I have made 8 posts to the Better Call Saul thread and I guess that is a measure of just how good that show must be (or at least how much I like it). Oh well. In any event, when I try to post in that thread, it seems to slow down the entire board. I have no idea why my puny 8 posts would have done that. In any case, what is that Marine expression that they holler? “Boo-Yah!” or something like that?"

In any case, I can’t help but feel impressed by these events. OK. Well, I’ve spent over an hour now analyzing my posting habits and that seems to me to be an hour wasted. The shows are superb (both of them) but spending an hour analyzing my silly posting mannerisms seems to me to be a real waste of time. If someone else ever admitted to doing that, I would think to myself, “Wow! What a dumbass!”. I might even post that except the rules of this board don’t like my doing that. Oh well, Sigh.

In conclusion, I tip my hat to everyone who participates in this thread and I wish you all a most enjoyable and exciting Finale next Wed night. Once again, I wish you all well!

Sorry, you’re right about the Fox part in 86, but it’s been channel 5, an independent station since 47. I was reading the side bar part.

You really should read the excellent - and updated - blog

Oh. Okay. Sorry, I didn’t know. My apologies.

Not a problem- we simply want to encourage great conversations to happen here in our threads, rather than off board.

Unless “red team” is ready to take out everybody who knew Martha was secretly married, there’s no way to paper this over.

By the way…didn’t Claudia pull a major 180 during the last episode?

I believe she claimed last year in the S2 finale that she “fought against” the recruitment of Paige (and the second gen program in general) after the Jared project went south.

Then last week, as she glowingly gazed into Gabriel’s eyes, she tells him he is the one man who can successfully complete the Paige conversion. What’s up with that?

Not necessarily. She can personally disagree with a policy, while carrying it out. People have done that from the start of civilisation.

This looks like more than just a policy difference. She she seemed to oppose it quite vehemently last year, but the glowing terms in which she embraced Gabriel’s mission indicates to me she now supports it.

Season finale tonight. I don’t normally watch it real-time, opting to watch it on Thursday, but I’m going to try to get awake and focused tonight to watch.

They keep leading us to presume that Martha shouldn’t be buying any green bananas, and the writers aren’t stupid, so I’m going with the prediction that she lives - and perhaps even becomes more useful. That the twist in the Martha storyline is that the opposite of what we expect is what happens. I don’t know what the opposite is, but I hope we’ll know in about 7 hours.

I’d say she lives. I put a spoiler a bit further up that has two or three reasons why I think that.

Anyway, it’s not even on tv where I live to I get a nights sleep and then watch it for breakfast

I’m a little disappointed it’s not like a 90 minute epic. Predictions!

Martha lives
Nina accomplishes her mission and gets pulled out by the KGB
Nadz and Paige head to Russia … I really hope they meet granny tonight
Stan gets Gaad’s job
Henry tells Dad he knows
Misha does that thing with computer guy
Reagan’s speech sends everyone ape shit, inc Paige.

and just to set the evening up nicely, Joe Fields just faved my tweet of the evening. Hurrah!

Uhhh…why would you not spoiler tag this comment too?!? :smack:

Either that, or her opposition was just an act to calm Phillip & Elizabeth down.
