I love Anime.
This short really impressed me, and I can’t wait for the next installments.
I’ve watched it four or five times now, and I there are several images that obviously have some historical reference. Some I can identify immediately, and some I can recognize but not place. I thought it might be interesting to have a thread that tries to identify as many as possible. I’ll start with an easy one.
At 04:14 there is an image of human executing a robot on his knees with his hands tied behind. This image reminded me of this image taken during the vietnam war.

I liked the style of it (and I’m not sure if it’s exactly anime), but I felt that a couple of the images were gratuitous - the part where the person’s head is pulled apart and you see his brain and tongue tumbling out, and the part with the lifelike ‘female’ robot that was stripped and brutalized.

I didn’t think the lifelike robot being brutalized was gratuitious, because at first you think it’s a human, or maybe it is, so you feel a certain way. You also see that the humans have no problem attacking a very human-like robot.
