The anti-stereotype thread

Earlier this week I was out for a walk with the twins. We came to a busy intersection where traffic taking a right turn did so without any form of signal. In such a case, at least here in Maryland, pedestrians have the right of way, but I wouldn’t stake my or my kids life on it. Instead I wait until someone clearly yields to me by coming to a complete stop. Which no one was doing. Car after car after car sped by. Who was the first person to yield to me the right of way? Someone driving a gigantic white Lincoln Navigator. Tinted windows, huge rims, gold trim, the works. A car that, to me anyway, is the embodiment of self-absorbed superficiality and thoughtlessness.

So mad props to you Mr Lincoln driver for defying the stereotype of people who drive such vehicles and for doing the right thing.

Anyone else like to share a similar story?

A Masshole pulled out in front of me on the road today and rather than being the gun-his-engine and speed away type, he decided to drive slower than the speed limit and make me hit the brakes. The pull out instead of waiting two seconds for the three cars to pass at 55 made sense, but not the hurry up and slow down thing. I tell you, I almost used my horn, but that would break the stereotype of us infinitely patient and serene VT flatlanders.
