Hey, all you former AOL SDMBers, I checked back today to see if the AOL board is still there, and lo and behold! it is. If you have AOL, here’s a link to it for you to copy and paste:

They’re desperate for new posts, so drop on by if you like.

Beatle, I suspect that that quote is from a board reg in disguise, as the AOL board’s address is kind of hard to come by. Basically, no one can find it except those who know about it already. It’s someone “in the know,” I bet.

What do I believe in? Not much that isn’t explained by logic and scientific experiment. And, you better believe, I want to see the logic and the laboratory equipment.

Well they can damn well go without me. It seems that AOL has “automatically updated” their system to kick ya off more often if you don’t use the AOL browser. It does this all the time now, anytime of the day or night. The last month or so has been especially bad - if you are using any other browser it used to show a pop-up window asking if you wanted to stay online but now it often doesn’t show anything at all: it just says “Goodbye!” and shows “your connection has been lost”. Often it “hangs” and you have to ctrl-alt-del to exit your AOL program, and then you can’t log back on for 15 or 20 minutes because the network still has your user ID as already active. That, coupled with the fact that complaints never get answered, and I can’t get on at all during prime time. Local ISP’s have better service and are five bucks cheaper a month, besides. I kinda doubt the merger is gonna fix all that. - MC
MC, type in Keyword: Quick Menu when you’re on AOL, and you’ll never get kicked off again. The Quick Menu reloads its news ticker every minute or so, so AOL doesn’t log you off while the ticker is on.
