Oh. Never mind.
I’m rooting for Jenn simply because I don’t like Kelly. Something about him just gives me the skivvies.
I’m going to go waaay out on a limb and make a couple of risky predictions:
The rain will stop and the golf thingy will go on as planned.
Chris Whoever will show up after all.
Either way, I won’t care who wins.
Jenn, but I’ve always like her cool unflappability (sorry, didn’t see tonight’s episode). Then again, I also liked Ivanna with her histrionic babbling. Good tv!
I’ve never liked Kelly’s use of the word “ladies,” as an insult. Keep that stuff to the military. I hope Jenn totally beats him.
Am I the only one who wants the Trump bobblehead?
George and Carolyn bobbleheads would be better – they’re the yes-men.
That bobblehead made it look like Trump had Parkinson’s. Scary.
Kelly is a sexist pig. I feel like he picked Elizabeth because she’s cute and he thinks she’ll be slavishly devoted to him. Very dumb idea to give her power over Jon and Raj. He should know they’re already chafing under his leadership, so how will they take orders from Elizabeth? Badly. I can see why you guys don’t like Jenn, but I cannot for the life of me understand how you can like Kelly. He’s the kind of guy who represents, for me, a lot of what’s wrong with the world. I second what PsychoBabble said: he gives me the skivvies, whatever that means.
Jenn should have talked to the NBA herself, that’s clear. She’s the best talker the show has had, so why delegate that to, um, Chris? I can see Pamela is up to her old tricks, and Stacey is still Ms. Sourpuss. I think Jenn has her work cut out for her, but overall I do think it’s the easier task. Dealing with outdoor stuff is challenging.
I wonder why they chose Chris, Pamela, Stacey, Jon, Raj, and Elizabeth for this final task. Last year they went with the last 6 to be fired. Maybe they decided to pick the most flamboyant or controversial people, except Stacy J, who maybe didn’t WANT to come back, or was thought to be too much of a loose cannon. Anyone else have any insight on this?
It’s not that I like Kelly – as several people have observed, I don’t like either of them – he just pisses me off less than Jenn does.
As for how they picked the six – I was going to suggest it was about willingness, a la Survivor All-Star – but that doesn’t make sense, I’m sure it’s written into their contracts that they have to make themselves available until the show is wrapped.
Put me in the Kelly column. I can’t stand Jenn.
I didn’t see anything obvious. What was your thinking on this?
Yeah, Auntie Pam, tell us what you saw. I saw Kelly’s team in mutiny, which surprises me not at all. Not so much on Jenn’s team, which bodes well for her. I could just be kidding myself because the thought of Kelly winning gives me a sharp pain right between the eyes.
I’m rooting for Jen of Nine. I’ve liked her all along, but all the people who constantly say she does nothing and “skates under the radar” (talk about mixing metaphors!) are starting to get to me. She is unliked, but it’s by a group of what seems to be fundamentally unlikeable people, so who cares? Sometimes Jen seems shady, but my people-reading intuition is telling me that she’s not nearly as bad as everyone makes her out to be. And, for the record, that’s more than just underdog-rooting.
Also, Kelly = asshole. It’s possible to go into the military and come out without acting like a jerk. Five gets you ten that Kelly answered, “Feared” to the “Would you rather be feared or liked?” question. Ugh! He is so full of himself, I want to see him knocked flat on his ass.
I guess technically I’m rooting for Kelly, because I still haven’t managed to mentally distinguish Jen from the rest of the crowd.
Kelly but only because I hate Jenn so much. My husband rightfully described her as fake and devious.
I’m surprised at the strong anti-Kelly sentiment among Dopers, especially considering his opponent. How do you root for someone who stole credit on a previous task from poor, pathetic Ivana?
I want Kelly to win and I think he will. Unless he fucks up collossally, he’s going to get the job. Trump seems to really like and respect him. Jenn I think he’s just intrigued by, plus she had a more impressive background, academically and in business, than Kevin and Sandy.
I’m also extremely impressed by his reason for picking Elizabeth first (I would’ve taken Pamela, then Raj): “I picked Elizabeth because if you give her a really specific task, she just runs with it.” I never would’ve seen that. She seemed really happy and flattered to be picked first overall, so I think she’ll work even harder for him.
I’m very disappointed in Raj and John’s attitudes. Even if they don’t want to hand Kelly the job, it’s pathetic that two grown men are behaving like they are. You would think that pride in one’s work would be all the motivation they need to work hard at kicking Team Jenn’s ass, but I think they’re going to spend more time putzing around than working. I’m surprised that they don’t realize that even though their interview for Trump is over, they are still, in a sense, being interviewed by other prospective employers watching the show. I see Raj’s stock falling lower and lower the more he behaves like a skirt chaser and sore loser, which is a shame for someone so smart and talented.
Question. Was that Chris Webber or one of his agents/handlers/whatever that Jenn was bitching out for trying to pull out of the show? I did like how she handled that. The finale should be wicked fun.
I wondered if he even got the Machiavelli reference and/or knew Machiavelli’s answer to that question.
Dio is right, Kelly is a cock. Jen of Nine (love it!) has her flaws but I’d rather see her take the prize than the tool that is Kelly.
Unfortunately, I don’t think Jen will win.
And for the record, for most of the show’s run, weren’t the PM’s chosen by picking names out of hat? So how is Jen shirking the PM spot? Was she using magic voodoo powers to fix the pick? And later on, didn’t it become clear that most of the time, the PM was the person fired from the losing team? Isn’t that an incentive to NOT volunteer to be PM? Incentive that even outweighs the possible exemption?
I think a better setup for TA would be that of “My Big Fat Obnoxious Boss”. Each week, BOTH teams’ PMs are exempt from firing, regardless of whether they win or lose. The rationale is that, in real life, the boss is always shielded by people lower down on the ladder. If “The Apprentice” used this strategy, team members would have to work their asses off each week instead of ganging up on the PM. That wouldn’t stop them from ganging up on someone else, but still, they’d have to spend more time working instead of plotting.
I think they brought back the six losers (3 men, 3 women) who were either the most colorful or most difficult to work with. As the Donald said, sometimes a leader has to get people who don’t like him/her to work together. As to who’ll win it all, take it to the bank it’s Kelly. Sorry Jenn fans. You might not like Kelly, but in the corporate world of Trump, he’ll be a killer shark. Jenn will be a flame-out, and Trump is smart enough to see that. It really doesn’t matter what will happen in next week’s episode. This week’s contrived problems (bad weather for Kelly and Webber cancelling for Jenn) are just to add suspense to next week’s episode.
Frankly, I never could tell the blonde bimbots Jenn, Sandy and Elizabeth apart. I’ve never cared enough about any of them to bother.
My hope is that Trump fires both Jenn and Kelly and hires Bradford instead. If he hadn’t forfeited his immunity that first boardroom and gotten sacked because of it, I think he would have blown everyone else away in the following tasks. Since that isn’t likely to happen, put me down for Kelly.
I’m not saying this to piss everyone off, it’s true… I like both Kelly and Jen.
Mostly because they were the ones who were always most centered on getting the task done and avoiding drama. Did they act like asses to the others at time? Yes. But the others were even bigger asses and deserved it.
Pam and Bradford should have been with them in the final four for the same reasons.
WRT who will win: As it’s been said, it’s pretty obvious, it’s Kelly’s to loose. Only a major screw-up will sink him.
New topic: Notice how Kevin and Sandy were fired because of lack of corporate experience. It seems that it is an impossibility for anyone without the serious educational background (at least a bachelors) and the corporate experience on their resume to win.
So… why bother putting on the show candidates without those prerequisites? Next season, we can simply cross out those candidates without that background as automatic losers (although, if all the ones with the right prerequisites really screw up right away, it may allow someone without the prerequisite background to win by default).
Peace.
