The Apprentice -- 2/24

I don’t think Tara ever caught on that she was selling the game and not the revitalization of Harlem. They did the same thing when they made the commercials in forgetting that the purpose was to sell the product.

How tall is Bren?

Trump’s lesson about listening also applied to Net Worth, because several people had reservations about Tara’s “social commentary” but she sure didn’t listen to them.

Craig is "demeaningful"?

The first thing I would have done is asked if anybody had played the game. I can’t believe she didn’t try to find out anything about the actual content of the game. That’s a huge mistake and she deserves to go for it.

I think Tara blew it by bringing Craig in. What reason could she have other than spite? I hope Trump calls her on that.

As of this commercial break, me either. She only called Craig into the boardroom because she was pissed about him calling her out. Before she went into the boardroom, she was all about Audrey and John. As soon as he said something negative, she went personal on him.

Wow, Tara really is kind of a weasel. And a bit clueless to boot. Was she not in the room when the focus group guy didn’t even get what she was trying to do?

I didn’t like her…but not enough to fire her. Tara, nooooooo!

I have to wonder if there was shit going on in other tasks and the suite we didn’t see, since John and Craig didn’t like her.

Holy hurt/comfort angst next week, batman!

Exactly.

Then, in the cab – “I shouldn’t have to lead my team” –

I didn’t really get the feel that those guys didn’t like her, just that they felt she was bad on this task. Which, yeah, it really was pretty much her fault.

You mean, they were objectively assessing the situation and giving honest answers? (John, especially, with his reasoning of keeping Tara, because it was better in the big picture). Sure wish Tara would have tried that… I guess she hasn’t seen Bren play the boardroom.

Forgot to say:

Chris didn’t say anything wacky in the boardroom, but he still had that weird volcano thing going on. Chris! Don’t you have anything between 0 and 11?

I don’t get it. Why do a “billboard” in Harlem unless you’re trying to get the attention of the Harlem demographic – whatever that might be?

Showing appreciation for the Harlem renaissance was a good idea. All it needed was more Playstation/Sony identity. Tara could have gotten that from looking at the box the game comes in.

I don’t think there was any “blame” to share this time. The decision of who won was too subjective. Magna’s mural looked messy, and it needed more explanation than Net Worth’s mural. The only thing setting it apart was the E for Everyone and the PS ring.

I call bullshit when they say the art isn’t important. Why use graffiti artists if the art doesn’t matter?

Tara goofed by bringing Craig in, but if I had to choose between John and Craig as Boardroom opponents, I’d choose Craig.

I guess they kind of did, yes. It just seems really weird because we don’t see that too often lately.
Her vision wasn’t that good, and judging from the short guy in the focus group she didn’t even execute it that well. And Craig had a point, there were an awful lot of "I"s in that presentation.

I feel awful for saying this, but I can’t wait to see Audrey’s meltdown next week. That girl has some serious issues. Sounds like she had a rough childhood and adolescence, and I certainly don’t take delight in her pain from those experiences. But she’s as much of a volcano as Chris is, and it is fun when she goes off and starts cussing like a sailor. I was hoping for some of that in the boardroom tonight, but she smartly showed restraint and let Tara sink herself. I actually like Audrey because she says exactly what she feels (and she’s beautiful!), but you can tell her teammates are sometimes put off by her coarse manners.

I miss Carolyn. :frowning: Looks like she’ll be back next week!

Welcome to a shirtless and confused Raj Ratings . Shirtless due to my daughter repeatedly spitting up on me tonight (which I take as a sign of love) and confused in honor of Tara’s confusion about the events of the task and my confusion regarding the boardroom. What did that discussion have to do with anything? Audrey’s husband? Why Craig was brought in? Tara’s cluelessness? They didn’t address anything relevant, rather wasting our time giving us a Bacheloresque critique of someone we will never meet. Oh well, on to the rankings. You’ll see the person’s name, current team (BS or SS), and prior week’s ranking.

Nursery School - Full of crying, childish people that could use either a potty break or a nap. These folks deserve to be watched by the crooked daycares profiled on “60 Minutes”.

Todd, Brian, Danny, Kristen, Michael – I know I reference the utter horror of living in an apartment with these people while the show finishes up, but it just boggles the mind. I’d rather listen to “It’s A Small World After All” on endless loop while trapped in a dark closet with a naked Michael Moore, a naked Ann Coulter, and a bottle full of Viagra.
Tara (SS) (High School) – Well, this seems deserved. You had full ownership of the graffiti vision and it really whiffed. Your “I, I, I” presentation cost you points with the team. The odd choice of Craig wasn’t too smart (although bringing in John also would have been a waste of time). The clearly showed you hearing that John and Audrey knew the GT series and Audrey explaining different race scenes, so your whole boardroom argument holds about as much water as colander. So yeah, you deserved to be fired. In fairness though, your effort pre-firing was much better than anyone else up to this point. Of course, that’s like saying Charles Manson’s the best prisoner because he’s been incarcerated the longest. Also, as a member of your target demographic, we could care less about imagery, deeper meaning, and sociological renewal. We want car crashes, cool prizes, and the occasional pie eating contest. And yes, I’m 30 with a child.

Elementary School - Some growth, but in the end it’s a place rife with playground fights, name calling, and a trip to the Principal’s office.

Chris (SS) (Elem. School) – You really weren’t shown, which I think represents your best odds of winning. But you as a clown next week? Just think back to little Bart Simpson. “Can’t sleep. Clown’ll eat me.”
Erin (BS) (Elem. School) – If you aspire for a real life modeling gig, you need to look a lot less goofy. That said, my hatred of you could be minimized by an increasing use of small, tight shirts. I revel in my shallowness.
Audrey (SS) (Elem. School) – You are bitter. I guess next week we find out why, but you rival Chris in the “Most likely to cut a teammate” contest. Anyone else a little thrown by the Mormon chick saying “I’ve done graffiti.”

Middle School - A group that might be growing up but still prone to wild swings based on playground fights, name calling, and puberty.

Stephanie (BS) (Middle School) – To move up, I think you need a good week. This was just a hold steady week.
Angie (SS) (Middle School) – No screen time, no change in place.

High School - Not quite a child, not quite an adult. Frankly, I still don’t know what to make of these folks.

Craig (SS) (High School) – Glory be. He lives! Actually, I think this was more good than bad. You weren’t really in danger of being fired. You had a personality conflict, but everyone does on this show. All in all, still stuck at this level, but I have some hope you can provide a spark.
Kendra (BS) (High School) – Not much airtime. Again. Kick someone in the crotch just so we can see you.
Tana (SS) (High School) – Your team’s time was taken up by the Craig/Tara/Audrey kerfuffle so nothing for you this week.

College - Older and wiser, things are looking up. Maybe not ready to enter the real world yet, but getting close.

Alex (BS) (High School) – You see, when the white people do the graffiti, they do it like this. And when the black people do it, they do it like this. I don’t know, maybe I’m the only one that gets a kick out of dorky white people reveling in their dorkiness in a situation like this. You had a pretty resounding win, especially in light of your team’s recent flailings. Good job.
Bren (BS) (College) – Quite the renessaince man. Veggie porn, mobile massages, cavorting with models. Still you are entertaining in a schlubby sort of way.

Grad School - These people have a clue, have some seasoning, and have a chance to make an impact.

John (SS) (Grad School) – Right now you seem confident, correct, and untouchable. So, I fully expect the veil to be lifted soon.

PhD - Ready for tweed jackets, big paydays, and teaching Trump how to drop “crunk” into everyday conversation.

The Rancic/Perdew corollary update. Chris, Erin, Audrey, and Stephanie are clearly out of it do to editing as buffoons. No matter what they do, they are too tainted. Angie is on the edge. Everyone else is still very much alive. Still, I’ll stick with last week’s final 4: Bren, Alex, John, and Kendra

Ah, Mullinator, I can face my day, because it’s started off right, thanks to the Raj Ratings. Thanks.

And word on the whole thing about Craig getting into Audrey’s marriage – I had some serious WTF action happening watching that.

I know, it was just so random and had seemingly nothing to do with the rest of the show. The only thing I can figure is that it will play out next week. I just get this feeling that Audrey will be shown as some odd, crazy person. It’s the only thing that explains her penchant for heavy cussing, lack of work, personality conflicts, religious upbringing, pretty girl exterior. She’s just this massive oxymoron of a person and I figure something odd from her past accounts for that.

And, the lesson that Tara should probably learn from this firing is that, as a leader, you can’t try to develop something that will appeal to all people while offending none, because odds are you’ll just appeal to none. Methinks she was thinking a little too politically on that one (although that’s her background so you can’t blame her too much on that one.)

Well done!

Favorite moment this week: The Donald doing a drive-by…

I miss my Carolyn! ( The New Gal always looks like someone is holding a Turd under her nose)
