Pardon me for quoting myself - but did anyone else see this interview with Lester Holt this morning? She was just as snotty and self-absorbed - and self-deluding - as ever. She also strongly implied that Trump was negligent in allowing everyone on a construction site without hardhats, resulting in her injury due to “falling see-ment”. I would love to know for sure what hit her (drywall? plaster? actual cement?) and how big it was. I find it difficult to believe she worked for two weeks with a “concussion”, after laughing it off when it first happened (until it was time to do some work).
Don’t forget that she was outside playing basketball after claiming she needed some rest while the others were working to remodel the apartment. I wonder if Trump knew about that.
This is the first reality show that I am hooked on. I missed the first two or three episodes as well.
Watching how petty and conniving people can be in the business work place and how The Donald really is the Teacher and Babysitter.
Omarossa, who has such a pretty name, was a world class fraud. The entire bump on the head becomes a concussion just was so funny to watch. She reminds me of a few people I’ve worked with. Always has an excuse when it was time to work and always available during the rewards session. Her farewell speech in the cab was like she was running for Ms. America. I think we all learned something from her: Good looks and being well dressed get you in the door, but after 15 minutes you better know something or be able to roll up your sleeves.
However, her approach to art was pretty smart. They did not have much time to allow lollygaggers, but their team did not take the time to learn more about it. During the waiting period for the people to show for the exhibit, wouldn’t you have talked with the artist to get as much info as possible.
Granted, that work was brilliant in its own freeky way, but still creepy. Kwame proved himself to me by explaining him decision making and accepting responsiblity.
I just love how all the guys just shut up and watch them women self combust in the board room.
Any guesses what they will have to do next week?
Here’s what they’ve done so far:
Renovate and sell an apartment
Shill Trump Ice
Sell a local artist
Raise money for children’s hospital.
Work at Planet Hollywood.
What are the other things they did?
Side note: I cannot imagine any company wanting to hire Omarossa after watching her on this show. I bet her former coworkers are watching this with complete glee and a " Seee! She is a nightmare!" What did she do for a living before this show?
What happened on Omarossa’s followup on GMA?
I’m betting their next task will have something to do with Broadway.
Selling tickets to a lesser, struggling Broadway show. Unless they already did this.
Or something about making commericals… but I can’t figure it out in my head of how that would be construed into money making in a quick turnaround in the usual 2 day window.
Or, maybe something to do with a selling a local band’s music/ concert.
I know I read somewhere that she did the pageant circuit. & that’s exactly what that speech was, a beauty pageant speech… (“I’d like to have everyone in the world hold hands - and save a puppy!”)
I still can’t stand Nick. It might be the accent. (Plus, I don’t think he’s much of a salesman, last week’s water fiasco outweighs the art for me.)
Funniest moment was hearing Heidi say she was sticking to her values. She’s a hard worker - but she was the mind behind the skank selling of the first few weeks.
Katrina has to be the one to go next week, haven’t liked her at all.
After running through the various episodes, I have to admit - Amy really hasn’t done much - but just enough right to stay out of trouble. Plus, she doesn’t have any personality quirks a la Assorama or Ereka. But neither she nor Kwame have done much of anything - to me, that means they will stick around while others self-implode, but they won’t have enough ammo in the bag to make up for any major screw-up.
Troy and Heidi have ammo in spades.
Heidi - yeah, I’d hire her in a minute. Work would get done - I could put her in charge of something and know it would get done. However, she would be a high-maintenance employee, because she is abrasive and ‘rough around the edges’, as it were. So there would be drawbacks - but she would more than make up for them.
Troy - now there’s a guy I’d turn over my company to in a heartbeat. Sharp as a whip, easy-going, personable. Doesn’t get much better than that. I still think he wins.
Katrina - she has done even less than Kwame and Amy (and maybe even Assoroma, if possible). Next time she’s in the boardroom, she’s gone.
Bill - Has just done enough to keep him in the Troy/Amy/Nick group.
Nick - A legitimate dark-horse - Trump obviously likes him, and he has had his moments, but let’s face it - he fell flat on his face when it came time to do his self-proclaimed specialty (sales). He needs another stellar performance to push him above the others.
Kwame - if he ends up in the boardroom before Katrina, he’s gone next.
Follow-up: Am I the only one who just laughs my ass off when I hear these 20-somethings talk about ‘being a leader’ and their ‘leadership style’.
They don’t know shit about what being a leader/manager is all about.

First week, they had to run a lemonade stand; the next week, they had to present an advertising campaign; the next week, they did a scavenger hunt where they had to negotiate the prices of 10 items to the lowest cumulative total.
People who are slagging on the “reward” are forgetting that this isn’t Survivor where the objective is mere booty–this is a job interview. 10 minutes alone with the person who’ll be doing the hiring? Who wouldn’t want that? As long as you know how to make the most of that time, you have a chance of leaving an even more indelibly impression on the man making the decisions. I’d expect all the rewards to be similar from now on, and people more interested in becoming PM since s/he will be singled out for favor even more than usual.
As for the big O, good riddance. I can’t imagine anyone who watched the show wanting anything to do with her (in a professional capacity) from here on out.
Katrina out, Kwame out, for sure.
Bill is good but too much in the background (or is it the TV that does not show him enough?) so I would say he’s out.
For Amy, it’s gonna depend on her performances, but I would say compared to the other she’s out.
That leaves Troy/Nick/Heidi.
- Nick has a (good) edge with Trump but he still has to proove himself.
- Troy is the star.
- Heidi is f*g punchy and make “it” happen.
Wow. it’s gonna be difficult. Or they just mess up a tiny thing and they’re gone. Trump is spending 3 hours per week only on this, so I’m afraid it’s gonne be the details that are going to be important…
About the leadership ** atrain**: I never heard so much about the leadership as when I was in business school 10 years ago. That was the great thing. Now I just do whatever I want and don’t give a s*t about leadership styles and whatnot. You know what to do and what not do to, and it’s pretty much called “common sense”. An example? You wanna people to listen to you and understand that they failed your expectations and that you’re not happy? Well, I use the “f-bomb”. For sure they listen… I never had so much listening that’s my heidi-leadership-style
Other misc thoughts:
When Nick picked up Amy, shouldn’t he have picked up Omarosa, knowing that she was the weakest link? Tough decision: game or business?.. or should I say game, business or love?
When they gonna be 3, will it be 3 teams? 2 against 1 seems unfair…
Next task?.. Finishing the web site? Amy should do ok
Hey! Wanna see a big f up? I’m fired!*
Just to be clear, I pretty much agree with the above. Omarosa was not this week’s worst performer, but overall she was the weakest team member. But I would’ve picked Kwame or Heidi to go this week before Troy. Troy didn’t do well, but he didn’t get in the way, either, and his rapport with potential art customers was better than Heidi’s. Troy didn’t get the art and admitted it; Heidi didn’t get it and wasn’t interested in even trying to pretend that she got it. I don’t mean that as strong criticism of Heidi, either, but I thought Troy did a better job selling nothing than Heidi did, plus he didn’t have the lunch conversation meltdown.
I’m actually glad that who gets fired doesn’t boil down solely to one week’s performance, so I’m not complaining about the unfairness of it all. It makes much more sense to weed out the links that are weakest overall, rather than someone like Kwame who rolls the dice and craps out.
On the other hand, I thought Kwame and the rest of his team were too attracted to their artist’s high sticker price to realize that higher prices meant a tougher sell, whether or not they liked the art themselves. Combine that with their own distaste for what they were selling and they were dead meat.
But Kwame’s gamesmanship, as storyteller0910 and RickJay point out, was top-notch.
Also, while I’m not Nick’s biggest fan, bully for him for picking the artist and making the decision, and good for Bill and Amy for falling in line with the choice. (I also thought was funny that he pointed out to Katrina that he’d have been fired had Ereka taken Katrina to the boardroom instead of Bill. Nick knows how the game works, too.)
I’ve never really understood the Amy-love. I mean, beyond her attractiveness (although frankly I think she has John Kerry chin). I mean, the women won Task 1 b/c of the collective use of their sexuality (as spearheaded by Kristin and Katrina if I remember correctly), they won Task 2 b/c of Tammy’s outlandish genitals as airplanes campaign, Task 3-Amy did pull a good bit of negotiating there with the golf club that sealed the deal, Task 4-the women won the restaurant task b/c Heidi had the idea to move alcohol as the highest priority, Task 5-I thought Kristin’s team lost b/c of a combination of losing the money + picking a bad product rather than extremely good performance on the other side, Task 6-was a really close call between the teams, Task 7-was that apartment? I think that win goes to Troy for pulling the rug out from under Katrina, Task 8-the Trump Ice win really was Troy-based. So all in all, Amy’s fantastic contribution runs to getting that store owner to knock some money off of Big Bertha.
The real stars of this show are George and Carolyn. Don’t cross them!!
The continual “We want Amy” phenomenon is interesting, but I think it’s explained less by her actual performance so far.
She’s smart and has performed well overall, but several of them have, so that wouldn’t single her out entirely. What it gets down to is that she possesses a trait that isn’t traditionally considered a crucial criterion for anyone working their way up the business ladder. Namely, she’s nice.
Have you noticed how well she gets along with everyone? To name just one exmple, she was the only female contestant who got along with Omarosa; granted, she wasn’t a fan of the Concussion Queen, but she seems to have the type of personality that tries to adapt to others’ quirks. And the others don’t even realize how well this is paying off for her.
Couple this with the fact that at least one male contestant has a raging crush on her (don’t forget it was Nick who picked her last night, and I believe at least one previous time, didn’t he?), and of course they’re giving the impression to Trump that she’s invaluable. But I submit that it’s less a result of any fantastic work she’s done (though, as I said, she has made excellent contributions) than the subconscious desire of theirs to be with the one person who doesn’t get in their face, the one person who is geuninely supportive, the one person they don’t feel threatened by- “our pal Amy.” The irony, of course, is that they should be scared as sh*t of her!
Man, you people are completely pitiless. Here Ass-Aroma has an entire building fall on her head, undergoes extensive surgery for brain replacement while at the same time propping up her teammates, and you guys diss her unmercifully.
I think Mr. Comb-over King has just been biding his time with this one. It’s not like he doesn’t see the films of these people and know what they’re up to, and didn’t get the cut of her jib right off the bat. He figured that once he got her in the board room, he could trump up (ha!) a reason to fire her sorry, unproductive, lying, conniving, disruptive, lazy ass.
I thought her plotting before the board meeting and her histrionics during it were calculated, childish and manipulative.
I think the only person convinced of Nick’s abilities is Nick. He has an extremely inflated opinion of his own worth and generally makes poor decisions. His salesmanship is crap, although I think he learned his lesson with the water deal. He was the only intelligent voice in choosing the artist. It was the only art that I would have purchased for my own home. The other stuff was too eccentric and eclectic for the casual or serious collector. I knew as soon as he made that decision that Ass-Aroma was headed down the road.
Yeah, I’m hooked. Shit.
I thought Amy had this thing locked up from the very beginning and continue to think so. Her negotiating for the golf clubs was the deal sealer. She smart, charismatic, works hard, and knows how to work people. No one even comes close. My second pick would be Troy. Trump will definitely like Nick though - he appreciates arrogance, passion and the willingness to speak up.
Can I just say how much I wanted to hate this show? It replaced Scrubs, and I wasn’t going to be quick in forgetting that. In fact, we vowed not to watch it (don’t watch reality tv, anyway). But then the Fab 5 were on, so we thought, well, ok, we’ll just watch for that.
Damn it! It is actually a good show and I am so pissed off at Donald Trump for not being an asshole at all. And for having genuinely likeable folks on the show (obvious exceptions aside). And for making me now actually tune in to see what happens. (If Troy doesn’t win, then I will be pissed.)
This is how crack addicts get started, right?
I think I finally understand why so many people think Bill is such a poor performer: He has actual business experience.
Most of the other people are sales people/lone-wolf entrepreneurs. Egotism, flashiness and off-the-cuff inspiration can get you pretty far in those areas. But in actual business, you sometimes have to go along to get along. Bill seems to have his stuff together but he refrains from jumping up and down and declaring his wonderfullness. He offers his opinions and advice, but once overruled, he puts it aside and does what he can to implement. This doesn’t make for riveting television, but it is evidence of having actually had relevant business experience.
For example, last episode, he was extremely reluctant to tell Trump which one he would fire. When Trump said something like “I often have to make decisions that will get people fired,” he responded, “Yes, but you don’t have to live with those people afterward!”
Bingo! In a real organization, you do have a continuing relationship with people so tact is important. Starting a civil war over where to eat lunch is just bad business. You criticize bad decisions – you don’t criticize people.
Bill is, essentially, a male Amy. Neither are obnoxious egotists but both actually seem to know their stuff. Both seem fairly adaptable – an excellent trait. Nick, by contrast, is Sam with slightly better social graces. He’s a salesman and that’s a completely different skill set than being a CEO. I have yet to see any evidence that he’s adaptable enough to make the change.
Troy is the wild card. He’s smart, but that can only take you so far. He runs too much on instinct and inspiration. If Troy had an MBA from Stanford, he’d probably be a world beater. Unfortunately, I don’t believe he even has a college degree, so it’s unlikely that he’d ever get one.
Yeah, I agree with Truth Seeker. Bill’s more than proven his salt, most recently last week when he bailed out Ereka and Nick on sales they were blowing, respectively.
I used to believe Bill was going to make it to the last three, but Trump clearly has an eye out for Nick. Smirky little fuck has the kiss of the gods on his brow.
Umm, Scrubs is still on the air on Tuesdays.
Believe me, I know. It’s just that it got jerked around so much because the Donald couldn’t hold his own against American Idol. See, I’m Sicilian–we never forget a grudge
Random thought:
Can’t Trump simply tell the team where and when to meet him the night before? How much info about the task would be given away by saying, “Meet in front of the Metropolitan Museum of Art at eight tomorrow”? I mean, pick a place across the street or something if secrecy is the big issue here.
I don’t know what it is, but those morning phone calls drive me crazy!
