First of all, these “creative” promo clips are getting kind of old. They’re like those movie blurbs that turn “This film was the worst movie I have ever seen. The best thing I can say about this movie is that if you miss just one film this year, make sure this is it.” into “This film was the . . . best thing . . . this year. . . . This is it!”
I thought this task was kind of stupid. I’m not entirely sure what it is they were supposed to be demonstrating. I’m also even more suspicious of this task’s outcome than I was of the other rental one. Even in New York, it takes more than a couple of hours to rent stuff out. Event planners and real estate brokers are busy people. They’re not typically going to just drop everything and rush over to see some property you want to rent out on an hour’s notice, especially with a client in tow.
I did notice, by the way, that the boardroom had a completely different tone this time. Trump didn’t seem to care about how they performed in the task, he cared about their general abilities. I also noticed that Carolyn endorsed and adopted Bill’s advice. This was all the more striking since I don’t believe she’s ever said anything positive about anyone before.
BTW, even though they lost, Trump actually thought they had done an excellent job. He told them he would honor their agreement because he always liked a good deal. This makes me wonder if there was some sort of a fix in.
I admit I’m quite surprised to see Troy go. From looking at their personal web sites, I thought that Troy would make it into the last two. I agree, however, that Trump made the right decision for the right reasons. I noted a while ago that Troy was long on inspiration and short on planning. He tends to shoot from the hip. Having said that, his attempt to hammer that other couple into $38,500 was the correct thing to do. He had about ten minutes to fish or cut bait and could not afford a protacted negotiation.
Bill’s attempt at “shit stirring,” as someone called it, was straight out of Sun Tzu. He’s smart and he thinks ahead. He’s got the best business instincts of any of the players.
Kwame would make an excellent CFO. Which means, for most companies, he’d make a lousy CEO.
Nick is a salesman. Period. I can’t see him winning.
Amy is quite similar to Bill. She, however, has floundered in the last few tasks and I think it’s at least in part because of her relationship with Nick. Someone, for example, should have told her that her car idea was stupid. If she’d been on Bill’s team, Bill would’ve. But Nick didn’t, just as Amy was unable to be sufficiently forceful with Nick regarding his attempt to forcefeed the penthouse to prospective clients.
I’m still hoping, by the way, that the final task is a live poker game between Trump, Carolyn, George and the final two.
BTW, Maybe Omarosa is back seeking compensation for her “injury.” The way they edit these promos, however, she probably just left her jacket in the suite and wants it back.
