The Apprentice -- 4/1

Well, she definitely won’t be in contention – but it wouldn’t surprise me if it were just her. Burnett is a genius at responding to the game as it’s happening, and I think he realized what reality show gold she had with the pageant goddess hyphenate, the universally loathed Assaroma. (C’mon, he cast and edited the show – he helped create the loathing.)

Who knows what she’ll be doing, but I’ll bet good money it won’t be as a competitor.

First of all, these “creative” promo clips are getting kind of old. They’re like those movie blurbs that turn “This film was the worst movie I have ever seen. The best thing I can say about this movie is that if you miss just one film this year, make sure this is it.” into “This film was the . . . best thing . . . this year. . . . This is it!”

I thought this task was kind of stupid. I’m not entirely sure what it is they were supposed to be demonstrating. I’m also even more suspicious of this task’s outcome than I was of the other rental one. Even in New York, it takes more than a couple of hours to rent stuff out. Event planners and real estate brokers are busy people. They’re not typically going to just drop everything and rush over to see some property you want to rent out on an hour’s notice, especially with a client in tow.

I did notice, by the way, that the boardroom had a completely different tone this time. Trump didn’t seem to care about how they performed in the task, he cared about their general abilities. I also noticed that Carolyn endorsed and adopted Bill’s advice. This was all the more striking since I don’t believe she’s ever said anything positive about anyone before.

BTW, even though they lost, Trump actually thought they had done an excellent job. He told them he would honor their agreement because he always liked a good deal. This makes me wonder if there was some sort of a fix in.

I admit I’m quite surprised to see Troy go. From looking at their personal web sites, I thought that Troy would make it into the last two. I agree, however, that Trump made the right decision for the right reasons. I noted a while ago that Troy was long on inspiration and short on planning. He tends to shoot from the hip. Having said that, his attempt to hammer that other couple into $38,500 was the correct thing to do. He had about ten minutes to fish or cut bait and could not afford a protacted negotiation.

Bill’s attempt at “shit stirring,” as someone called it, was straight out of Sun Tzu. He’s smart and he thinks ahead. He’s got the best business instincts of any of the players.

Kwame would make an excellent CFO. Which means, for most companies, he’d make a lousy CEO.

Nick is a salesman. Period. I can’t see him winning.

Amy is quite similar to Bill. She, however, has floundered in the last few tasks and I think it’s at least in part because of her relationship with Nick. Someone, for example, should have told her that her car idea was stupid. If she’d been on Bill’s team, Bill would’ve. But Nick didn’t, just as Amy was unable to be sufficiently forceful with Nick regarding his attempt to forcefeed the penthouse to prospective clients.

I’m still hoping, by the way, that the final task is a live poker game between Trump, Carolyn, George and the final two.

BTW, Maybe Omarosa is back seeking compensation for her “injury.” The way they edit these promos, however, she probably just left her jacket in the suite and wants it back.

I guess what upset me the most, was that at the end, it seemed to me more like Trump was saying “We deal with multi-billion dollar companies, can’t have a person without a degree in there”. Probably because I don’t have a degree, and I’ve had to overcome a lot to be successful in my own career, I view things from that angle. In my opinion, the whole point of calling the show “The Aprentice” is implying that the person that wins, will not only get a job, but also have a chance to “learn” from Trump. I think Troy would have been perfect for that. I don’t see someone that had a successful position in another business that was very similar, but saw this as a way of juming up the ladder, instead of climbing it, really fits the “spirit” of how this was first advertised. To me Troy (and Sam to an extent) fit what was first put out about this show. These are two guys that basically made their own way, by following what Trump had written in his book.

eh, I don’t know…I can sort of see Trump’s point on this one…but then I suppose the title of the show should be changed to “The Interview” instead.

I also couldn’t help noticing how dolled up Carolyn is all of a sudden. It’s like she suddenly realized she’s on on TV in front of millions of people and decided to throw some make up on.

Don’t you be mockin’ my girl Carolyn.
BTW, MB, you do realize you have to log into IM if you actually want to be available to chat?

Got mine on now, dawg. Where you at?

At work, where they’ve blocked IM, dagnabbit. Maybe I’ll catch you this weekend sometime – won’t be tonight, since I’m going to go see Liz Phair.

Damn, not only blocked IM, but put in a tricky feature that effs up my coding when I’m posting instead of working…

Ah! Too bad. I just sent you a message about last night 'splaining what the deal is on my end. I actually, uh, don’t have a PC at home… so here at work is generally when you’d catch me on da Yahoo. :frowning:

Have a good time tonight, dude.

Ah, well, then that explains it.

I’m a dudette, BTW.

Doh! Why did I assume you were man-like? Maybe the “-er” at the end of your handle.

Alas, to assume makes an ‘ass’ out of ‘u’ an ‘me’… mostly me!

So you think I should be come a twickstress? Perhaps La Twickstresse? Hmmm.

You realize this is the kind of really stupid conversation we should be having via IM?

We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread…

As a woman who works well with other women, let me be the only one to stand up for Amy’s behavior on the plane. I think she was teasing Nick with her remark about meeting her father-in-law, and I think she sensed that Moose would play along with it. I think she may have started out enamored of Nick, but I think she’s catching on to how the others feel about that, and now she’s determined not to succumb to his charms, but at the same time to let him believe that she is, in case she can use it against him later.

I think it’s just sad how many women say they can’t get along with other women. It’s a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy when you say, “other women just always seem jealous of me.” Personally, I work equally well with men and women.

If they bring this show back next year, I’m curious to see if the women dress a little more modestly. No one I work with, who is serious about her job, wears micro mini dresses and strappy heels to work. If I remember right, Tammy didn’t join in when most of the others were whoring themselves up to sell booze, etc. And Amy always looks professional from the waist up, so looking at her across a desk you’d never know she dresses skeezy from the waist down.

While I’m at it, I wonder where Omarosa got the idea that pageant contestants are classy? I don’t think the best families trot their daughters across stages like livestock at an auction.

Here’s a tidbit: according to my local “news” report on the show, Assarossa will be on both of the last two shows. For what it’s worth.

I was glad to see omarosa go and i DON’T want to see her come back (whoever said it was genuis was so wrong) assarosa is a ugly, mean, dimwit of a bitch and deserves nothing good. if she comes back i’m not watching. gross.

Personally, I’m hoping she was another Trump employee that was planted solely to stir the pot with childish antics. I mean, someone couldn’t be that delusionial in real life. Right? Right?

In my mind, any time something is labeled “classy,” it automatically isn’t!

Did anyone else see the promo for this week’s APPRENTICE show last night on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE? It was essentially the same promo that appeared at the end of last Thursday’s show with one addition: It said Troy is coming back on this show!!! I don’t know in what context he’ll be back.

On another topic, sort of, The Donald was not such a great SNL host. He seemed to always be reading through non-existent bifocals (contact bifocals???) cuz he would throw his head way back to read the cue cards. And his hair was really bizarre. I tried to study it to figure out just how it is styled, but that coiffeure is beyond unbelievable!

I didn’t see it, but now I’m beginning to wonder if the return of Assorama & Troy means that the rest of the previous contestants (or at least some of them) will be coming back and acting like the “jury” on Survivor and voting for who they think should get the job, instead of Trump making the final choice.

Another theory has it that the fired folks are returning to serve as employees for Amy, Nick, Bill, and Kwame during their final challenges.
