That’s pretty much the perfect summation of this season and these finalists.
Just occured to me that no one has mentioned this. There is talk that Kendra has a mini-scandal of her own from her past. I’ll leave it up to you to find it if so intrigued. It’s not exactly a big deal (she wasn’t snorting lines off the back of illegally imported European orphans) but it would be a reason that Melania might not be fond of her winning.
It seems to me that Craig was the one that wanted a set price, and he lied to Kendra when he was confronted for discounting, saying he was trying to increase sales on volume. The instance we were shown that he discounted, the customer was already in line to buy several tee shirts, they had the money out ready to pay full price, then the customer declined the discount at first because of the perceived value of the artist, Craig insisted right back that no we’ll do it for $60.
Was it me, or did it happen that she mistakenly gave him 3 twenties instead of 4 and when he fanned out the bills and saw he needed to ask her for another, he offered her a discount instead!? That’s was what it looked like to me. He looked at the bills and said, “Ok I will give you two for $60” and she said no and he insisted? I couldn’t be sure that was what happened but it looked like it.
I disagree. I mean I agree that the two of them handled it well together, but I have no problem with her dogging him out. She did it during a “confessional” which is where they are expected to comment on the performance of their teammates. And since she was absolutely right about what Craig was doing, I have no problem with it.
I actually think Kendra would be a a pretty good Apprentice in that I think more highly of her than Kelly from last season. I missed the first season so I don’t know how she ranks with Bill. But she has shown herslef to be extremely competant in a a very broad aspect of business, the marketing. Considering she has shown this skill in several different enviroments is pretty impressive . Someone above mentioned she does the main things, basically focus group research and targeted marketing. But she also thinks of small things that matter. In the putt putt golf she thought of “exclusivity”. In this task she recognized there wouldbe folks at te store who were not aware of the artist, so they created a display highlighting who he was. She does have some inter-personal problems which would hinder her managerial abiites, but I am not even convinced of that. Her teammates are also her competitors, they are not paid to do a job. Think how well Kendra has worked with the other people on tasks, the artist and his asistant. The graphics department at Pontiac. I don’t care if she doesn’t seem like fun, she seems focused and driven sduring a task and she has shown that she is fairly capable of putting asside personal differences to get things done. I think she is clearly the best of the remaining three and maybe the best of the last two seasons.
Oh, I agree it was a dumbass business decision.
But the lecture after he said he would stop seemed a bit unneccesary. Unless of course she was frustrated by a previous argument over the price…
And she looks good in a flightsuit.
Well, googling “Kendra Apprentice scandal” didn’t give me anything – any other hints?
According to the gossip at TWOP, Kendra had an affair with her boss in her previous job. Her boss was married. His wife found out and filed for divorce. In the course of the divorce hearings the wife named Kendra as the reason and I think she may have subpoenaed Kendra as a witness or something.
I have no idea how much of this is true but that’s the “scandal,” such as it is.
In this day and age, that’s not terribly shocking…
I thought the reason Craig offered the discount was because he didn’t know how to make change. He had a sorta baffled look on his face, when the customer handed him the cash.
Either that or they didn’t have the correct change, so he just cut her a deal, so as not to lose time looking for change.
I had the same thought! My wife, too. She turned to me and said “this could be awkward!”
Don’t forget that this alleged scandal is just a rumor, at this point. We don’t know for sure what’s going on.
Also,
Even if Kendra was indeed named in a divorce lawsuit, that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. The boss’s wife could have simply perceived that some hanky-panky was going on, regardless of the actual facts.
Frankly, it wouldn’t shock me to learn that Kendra was indeed responsible for a divorce – but only because of the times we live in. She hasn’t given any indications of being a homewrecker, so let’s not jump to any conclusions.
I pretty much agree with all this. We don’t know what’s true or isn’t true but even if it IS true, it’s nothing illegal, just messy and embarrassing (and arguable unethical but I tend to place the majority of the blame on the married person in these situations. Ultimately, they’re the ones responsible for keeping their own vows). At worst, I would chalk it up to a human mistake that a lot of other young women have made. It shouldn’t be a deal breaker to her getting the job,
re: the stuff in the spoiler boxes above:
My “eek” reaction above was not about the morality or lack thereof of whatever may or may not have happened (that she may or may not have been responsible for) – but just that she would risk going on a national TV show with that particular skeleton in the closet.
I don’t know why that rumour is making me think of
Bridget Jones’ Diary when she’s interviewing for Sit Up Britain.
“At Trump Organization no one gets fired for shagging the boss. You have my personal guarantee.”
I’m still thinking on the Craig and Kendra thing. I’m not sure it makes sense to “blame” one or the other for it – single one or the other of them out as the immature one. My take on it is that they just bring out the worst in each other, and neither of them can break out of the cycle they’ve created. Which, of course, doesn’t speak all that highly of either one’s maturity – but it’s not like one of them is at fault, really.
They just don’t freakin’ like each other.
I wonder whether Donald knew that Craig offered the discount. For me, that would be the deal breaker. I wouldn’t hire a guy who would unilaterally, and for no good reason, leave profit on the table. It’s not just ethically wrong in my opinion (I see it as stealing from the company), but it’s strategically wrong for the product. It cheapens it. Those people did not buy multiples of them hoping to get a price break; they bought multiples of them hoping to accumulate a larger portion of the limited edition than if they had bought one only. It was a bad bad bad decision in my book.
Heck. In order to drive up the “limited edition”, I’d have put up a sign that said “LIMIT FOUR PER CUSTOMER.”
