Nazi ‘Arbeit Macht Frei’ sign stolen from gate at Dachau concentration camp
I guess I’m pitting the anonymous (neo-Nazi?) thieves.
The Swedish neo-Nazi who had the same sign removed from the Auschwitz gate in 2009 is in jail, so who knows who the destroyers are.
Too bad someone didn’t steal it 71 years ago.
It’s needed here, in the home of Kapitalismus. Work makes us free, yes?
What a shame, that used to be such a nice neighborhood.

Morgyn:
What, again?
Every five years , like uhrwerk.
It’s probably hanging in some teenager’s bedroom.

This is why we can’t have nice things.
But it would, like, look really cool at the entrance to your frat house.

And the teenager will, of course, studiously ignore the message.
That, then, would have been a feat of daring.
This, now, is just a dick move.
Probably arbeit macht freicyclers,

To be fair, so did the Nazis. Lots of Arbeit going on in Dachau and Auschwitz but not much Freiheit was gemacht, not as such…
Replace it with “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”
What are you talking about? He put in the work and got it for free.

The articles I’ve seen don’t say sign, it was a gate at the main entrance with the slogan on it.

Repeated hundreds of times all over the walls and fences . . .

It was a black metal arch over the gate, with black metal letters between an upper and lower borders. It wasn’t solid, just the border outlines and the letters. I think it could be called a sign.
