The Arctic Front Has Arrived

I expect (I have no cite) that a lot of people thought that naming hurricanes was a stupid idea, too. I’m ambivalent, though. The criteria for what storms should be “named” is unclear to me, and there were a lot of storms last year that got names that didn’t seem all that significant to me. <shrug>

Shouldn’t that be “rinter rorm”?

At the risk of sounding like a complete idiot (and YES, I DID google), what’s the ‘western weather wall’?

Just call it the Coming of the Lord.

It’s the weather wall that’s to the west.

“Ksksksksksks…”

Forecast for Anchorage, Alaska: Hi: 41 Lo: 36
You’re welcome down there.

And all the roads that lead you there are winding
And all the lights that light the way are blinding
There are many things that I
Would like to say to you but I don’t know how

I said maybe, you’re gonna be the one that saves me
And after all, you’re my weather wall

If you brace yourself, it will come.

First real snowfall overnight here. Fortunately it’s been below zero for the past few days, so it’s not melting and re-freezing. Roads should be okay.

-14• and still. Perfect weather for the outdoor Remembrance Day service that the Piper clan is off to in a few hours.

Hoosier Pass closed for about 45 minutes last night. Yeah, warmer roads + snow and falling temps = icy.

There was a minor accident. No injuries.

CDOT plow/sand truck pulls up and sits there blocking the one open lane for about 1/2 hour of this. Just sat there. I thought that maybe the CDOT truck even felt it was to icy to move. But with a truck load of sand and salt, well, don’t you even have a shovel to spread some by hand? Yep, it might be hard to get it out of the spreader, but there must be some way to do it. Oh, there happens to be a mountain made of dirt and gravel right there. If you can’t get it out of the spreader, throw some of that on the road. Sheess. Done it, works well.

Pissed me right off.

I kept debating whether or not to walk up to the scene. But it looked like it would clear up soon. I didn’t want to leave my car to cause further problems blocking traffic since it looked like it would begin moving at any time. There where already about 10 people hanging around there anyway.

Finally, the CDOT truck just drove off, and the people that where in the accident directed traffic.

Really strange, I suspect I don’t know the whole story.

Still aggravating that people won’t prepare for this.

16C and sunny in Southern Ontario! I went for a nice long walk.

62 in Detroit today. I am enjoying it, since we might not see 50+ again till May.

We’re up to about 17" in the front yard, which, considering yesterday morning we had 0", is a bit of a freakstorm. The whole town is shut down.

Of course, we’re not even considering not going out tonight. We got plans, dude, not gonna let a foot or two of snow keep US down.

Sunny and 46ºF here, and the wind is blowing about 10.

I never have allergies. OK, maybe a little. But today my eyes – particularly one of them – are spraying like lawn sprinklers. Lows should be below freezing through Saturday.

Good on you. 17inches is to be considered, but not a show stopper.

Heh. Get my coat on. Perhaps gators.

Sorry, but those that live in this tend to take it in hand. It’s just the way it is. I would probably scream like a baby from the insects in Florida.

Do you stir your coffee with your thumb?

*The weather it tried to freeze him, it did its very best;
At a hundred degrees below zero, he buttoned up his vest. *

:stuck_out_tongue:

69 was the high in northeast Ohio today. I was out in a tee shirt and sandals.

It says 39 is the low but it’s either going to come extremely quick or not until tomorrow. Pissed I didn’t get a chance to walk the dog today (I had Veteran’s Day duties, be cool) - I’m anticipating bad weather until April!

:frowning: I took one last look at my beautiful annuals. They were still full of blooms. They’ll be dead after the next couple days.

I hate cold weather. Always have and always will.

I wish I shared that optimism. :frowning:
