It keeps getting worse here. It is 9° F and forecast to be around zero tonight. High of seven tomorrow and a low tomorrow night of -2. Light snow for the rest of the week.
It is a really dense and shallow cold layer, so enipla, even being several thousand feet higher than me, is close to 20° warmer. The cold doesn’t go that high. Hell, Leadville, at over 10,000 feet, is forecast to have a high of 26 tomorrow.
Normally it’s not a showstopper, but the fact that we went from 0" to 20-30"+ in about 30 hours causing some havoc. We’re not like the west, where Big Dumps are normal (and often melt away a few days later). Our typical trend is 2-3" a day for 3 months in a row.
Plus, this is heavy, wet snow. I’ve heard multiple reports of snow plows getting stuck.
The city hasn’t been plowing the side streets, which has never, ever happened as far as I know. People are pissed. They’re not, however, staying home.
Supposed to get down to 30f tomorrow night… That’s really cold for this part of Texas.
I haven’t turned on the heat yet,but did cook a pot of chili. Sadly, either it doesn’t taste good,or the allergies have attacked.
Waiting unhappily for the horrid cold thing to assault the south.
We had beautiful weather in the high 70s today, and depending on how quickly the awful cold thing descends, it could be as low as 36 tomorrow, and in the low 20s on Friday. For South Carolina, that is freaking nuts. Combine that with the freak snowstorm over Halloween weekend, and it’s going to be an interesting winter to be sure.
I spent tonight breaking out my sweaters and looking for my coats, which I still haven’t found… if I don’t find them soon, I’ll freeze before Monday!
The all-time low for any day in November in Denver is -5° F. It is -4 at 10:00 PM. Forecast calls for -14. That record will be blown away within the hour. It is -7 at my house already.
I just saw a flock of geese flying overhead, southward. They seemed upset and in a hurry.
The cats are pretty upset too. They think it’s the same temperature outside as it is inside, and they want to go out really bad, until I open the door a crack and they get hit with the cold.
I went to the beach & went swimming this morning. The water *was *a bit cool; does that count?
The TV weather morons around here said we’d get your cold front around mid-week. But it wouldn’t get cold even by our wimpy standards, nor would there be any precip. I guess the rain’ll all have fallen out by the time we get the last dregs.
At least we get first shot at all the nice warm hurricane rain though.
When I was in California during a drought and it was winter and we’d had days and days and days and days of rain I flipped my cigarette on the ground and said, “where’s the drought?”
Well, it got cold here, as well. I’m wearing my parka. My sister said that there’d been 50 cm of snow in Sault Ste Marie. We had a centimetre or so in Peterborough, but it’s been cold enough for it to stick around.
