The Arrow: Season 3 Episode 19 Broken Arrow

Is this the first episode of the Arrow where the villain was a metahuman?

Ra’as is immortal(ish). I’d think that counts.

What separates Deathbolt from Slade and all the other super-steroid soldiers, including Roy? Weren’t they metahumans, at least when drugged?

I knew it wouldn’t/won’t last, but I had hope this episode. They killed Roy (second worse actor), then they killed Thea (worst actor AND worst character).

Hey can we get a spoiler warning put here? Reported to mod for possible spoiler.

I know on the Arrow they have been trying to keep it as realistic as they can. That’s why I was happy to see a meta human on the show tonight.

What spoiler? I’m 99.9% sure Thea isn’t going to stay dead, just like Roy didn’t stay dead and they couldn’t even keep the illusion of Oliver dead for one episode. The only real question is how come they haven’t revived the original Canary yet, because I’m sure she’ll be back at some point too.

So what’s the timeline here? Ray gets out of the hospital, and Oliver turns himself in while Ray and Felicity hop over to Central City? That must have been one quick trip as they’re back immediately after Harper gets arrested.

I added spoiler box around the reported material. I am not that familiar with the show to know how much of a spoiler it is, but decided to err on the side of caution.

Those were the events of the episode as plainly shown to all viewers of the episode. If they are considered spoilers, you might as well put spoiler boxes around everything said here.

ETA: That Roy later turned up alive is an even bigger spoiler. I don’t see any spoiler boxes around that.

How is something that happened at ~45 minutes into the episode a spoiler? Or are we not discussing the aired episode after it aired? I didn’t see the next episode clip (not because I’m opposed to that stuff, but because I was surfing between baseball and hockey).

Personally, of all the deaths of significant recurring characters so far, the only one I think likely to really stick is Tommy Merlyn.

Thea won’t stay dead. Ra’s said as much. “Killing” Thea is partof the plan to get Ollie to take over. I imagine that we will finally see a lazarus pit.

I thought we did see the pit? or was that just the Lazarus Sauna?

With Netflix, Hulu, Tivos, etc. not everyone sees each episode immediately when it comes out. In fact with time zone differences, not everyone sees the first broadcast at the same time. I think spoilers are only common courtesy. This is obviously more so true of movies.

IIRC, the general rule has been for Episode specific threads on TV shows to have open spoilers once the episode has been broadcast. Since the point of such threads are to discuss the episode, one would end up having to spoiler-box a sizable proportion of the total text of a lot of such threads if the rule were otherwise.

If you plan on watching the episode later (and care about spoilers), presumably the solution is to wait until then to read the thread. Or atleast limit your reading to posts that predate the episode airing.

Agreed. I’m generally a bit of a spoiler nazi, but one of the times when it is absolutely NOT necessary to add spoiler boxes is when discussing a TV episode in a thread clearly marked as being the thread for that specific episode.
I don’t think it’s impossible that Thea will actually be dead. But I hadn’t thought of the idea of Ras using the lazarus pits and leverage, which does make some sense. I guess we’ll see. Definitely an entertaining episode.

If they are going to go the Lazarus Pit (and I think they are at some point), why not earlier use it on Oliver, when it made a hell of a lot more sense? At this point, it would make more sense to kill Ra’s (or is it Ras?) and bring him back as a surprise.

sigh I should be plotting this stuff (but don’t many of us feel the same?) sigh

Ra’s al Ghul.

Gesundheit.

This. I don’t have cable, or even a television, so I watch the episodes the next day on the CW Web site.

Also, this. I’m clever enough to not go to the the show’s thread until after I’ve watched the latest episode.

That said …

Thea! No! And why does everybody hate her so much? I love Thea, though I will confess that it might be simply my “little brain” talking. But I don’t think she deserves the hate. In this kind of show, I find that the story itself is more important than the individual characters, and Thea plays her part in the story. If the story is good (and I think this one is; at least I enjoy it), I don’t see much reason to judge the acting skills of the various actors, especially those who are not playing the primary “core” characters. If the acting is sufficient to advance a good story, I’m happy with it. As a comic collector, I’ve stuck with titles where I hated the artwork, but liked the writing enough that I could let the artwork slide. (The one exception was when Buscema was drawing Daredevil in the late 1980s/early 1990s - I found his style so abhorrent that I couldn’t stick with it).

I dislike Thea, the character as scripted. I also think the actress is the worst on the show, and the worst of just about any other show I watch regularly. The actor portraying Roy is also pretty bad, but at least his story has been a bit better. The actresses portraying Laurel and her sister also aren’t good. Felicity’s actress is the only one doing a good job with the role she’s given. But Thea’s actress is the worst, bad enough to often take me out of the story.

I’ve also been an avid comic reader, but I’ve never had a problem dropping a comic because of bad writing or bad art (with the exception of The Legion of Super Heroes).
